It's not terribly far, like 200 miles, but I'm pretty swamped at work.
Cargo is a Caddy 500 V8 and TH400.
You choose:
- Beer
- Money
- Beer Money.
EDIT: Or someone near Newtown CT who would be willing to go snag it and store it until I (or Patrick) can get there? Seller gave up on the ebay listing and is offering it for free or it goes to the scrap yard in "a few days" as he says.

I'd help, but I don't own anything big enough to carry that lump. Sorry.
If someone can get it to Baltimore (just off i95), then I'll be able to ensure that it can get to Harrisburg

Rent a uhaul utility trailer? They're cheap cheap, between $12 and $30 bucks.

Same. I drive from NH to SE PA often, but while I've transported an Spitfire 1500 engine in my minivan with some difficulty with the loading process, a 500 Caddy is a lot bigger and heavier. Is the seller able to assist with loading? I may be able to figure out a way to secure them in the van, but it won't be until my next trip home in March.

I can't ask anyone to go to extremes. Just wondering if anyone was nearby with a truck and a day off.
It kills me to see one of the finest engines ever produced go for scrap.
In reply to Ian F (Forum Supporter) :
Seller has an engine hoist.
A Caddy 500 isn't any heavier than a small block chevy, but WAY bigger and heavier than a spitfire engine.
I'm checking with people for you, no promises.
I'm going to be in NYC on the weekend of March 11-12 which would get me a bit closer, but I can't take my van to the city. It won't fit in the parking garage. I might be able to drive to CT on Sunday, but that's a hellova day. 9 hours driving.
Alternately, if you want it to have a temporary home I do have a challenge legal FRS roller sitting here...
In reply to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :
Dear god.... a frisbee with a 500? I'm down. I'll bring a sawzall and duct tape.
The CT to PA trip friend I have doesn't have the capacity to haul this thing, sorry. We could maybe work something out with other people in the area if you're desperate and can't get the dude to hold it until you can get there.
Has anyone actually confirmed that this stuff is not still connected to the car in the eBay photos?
Because this looks super not-fun to me:
According to the guy, it's just sitting on the mounts as storage. Not bolted in.

Does he have a way to get this out and up in the air?

I'm not worried about the weight. I'd have to get a 48x48 sheet of plywood for the van and with holes cut out to access the tie-down points. I have all that at home, but I'm in NH until Mar 10th. What is seller's timeline? I should be returning to NH on the following Monday for another 3 week stint (assuming the CO for my time here gets extended). If he can wait until Mar 31 or Apr 1, then I should be able to do this.
When I get home, I can deliver to Chris' shop.
His timeline is basically yesterday. It kinda feels like he lost his garage or storage space and it's a fire sale... hence the free engine/trans.
I think I can hold him off until Sunday.

Ah... bummer.
