Just got my desk at work moved to a new, tiny desk where it's easy for anyone passing by to see my screen, and GRM's website is about as colorful and attention-grabbing as Brazilian Carnival...so I whipped up this system to dullify it.

1. Install Stylish (Update: Not Stylish anymore, use Stylus) plugin for Firefox

2. Go into the plugin's options, make a new style and paste this code (based on the source of an old Firefox plugin called Decreased Productivity)

3. Enable your new style. Now the website is duller than the average Word document! Pictures will appear faint until you mouse over them. You can adjust the two opacity numbers further down to change this, first is normal opacity, second is opacity when you mouse over.

Would be cool if I could use Firefox here... All our work programs run IE and nothing else. No biggy though...

A less involved option is to view the mobile version from your desktop. Just stick thay "m." out front :)

Forgot about the mobile site, I used to use it all the time with my Treo 650 but after I upgraded from that I just viewed the desktop site on my phone.

That works superbly!

Never occurred to me to try the mobile site. Much more discrete.

is there something similar for chrome?

Very same steps, except you install the plugin for Chrome:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylish/fjnbnpbmkenffdnngjfgmeleoegfcffe?hl=en

And you take out the "@-moz-document domain" line and specify the domain in the plugin interface instead.

Thread resurrection: For recent versions of Firefox you should swap Stylish for Stylus, which is compatible with v57+. Domain isn't specified in the code with this plugin, but it imports settings from Stylish-compatible CSS automatically.

Awesome, just done.  Thanks for the update.

[edit]  Can't see the "Post" button... kinda had to go from memory.

Haha yeah you have to remember where to click...the pointer turns into a hand over it at least.

Another thread resurrection: If you're still using Stylish for Chrome, you'll need to switch to Stylus now, since Stylish has been blocked from the Chrome and Firefox addon repos due to privacy problems introduced when an advertising company quietly took control of the addon's development in January 2017:

Somewhere in another thread I posted the code to paste to compress the white-space on the forum down to something reasonable as well.

You can see what it looks like and the CSS here:

https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/coming-soon-new-message-board/132449/page15/

I was using either stylebot or freestyler, I can't recall which I settled on.  I don't have it setup on this machine currently.

I wonder if anyone else has some styles for this site to share.  Maybe with enough users the admins will offer one as an option.

Update: Is Stylus broken for anyone else with the latest Firefox? (v63.0.3)

Update2: Turned out to be a problem in Stylus 1.5.0.

You'll need to log in to post.
