Will we ever see this game? Does it really exist? I'm starting to wonder.
It'll be like Daikatana. Delayed to the point where when it's released, it's no longer impressive.
I still say it comes out before Duke Nukem Forever, though.
Has cartoon handling, crappy AI and no damage model ever been that impressive?
PC based sims were light years ahead of where GT5 hopes to be back in '03. Except in GT5... the moon and snow in the background will look more realistic. You still won't have a damage model and it will handle like a cartoon... but it will be pretty. Like the Forza you can buy now.
Yawn.

(slight thread jack)
for some interesting reading here is a story that suggests that DNF's legendary development time was all just some kind of marketing ploy.
but yes just go buy Forza

I just now registered that the title of that game is "DNF". I wonder if the "developers" are also racers and understand the full irony of that?
My wife had a few students who warned her at the start of the semester that they were going to be absent from class the day/week GT5 came out. Looks like they might fare better than they initially thought in the attendance category.

I currently have a key for the pre-release of DNF sitting in my steam account. Gearbox bought it from 3DR or whoever had it before, and had a running version in 48 hours.
For those that don't know Gearbox did Borderlands.... awesome game.
Yeah, I had heard some other company had picked it up and sounded significantly more serious about actually getting it made.
Would be hard to live up to 10 years of hype, though. If I were them, I'd release it as a turn-based strategy game instead of an FPS. The WTF-factor alone would be worth it, hahaha.
