I don't think anyone here is either, but I am sure we are all seeing the gun control discussion carried on elsewhere. I thought it was an interesting read, sorry if you don't.

It is an interesting read. I misunderstood the intent.

I bought a pistol safe, or so I thought, this past Saturday. I called today because my order is still in 'pending' status.

"We're backordered on all pistol safes for a month"

WOW

So I think all these people are doing is encouraging the sale of firearms. Neat!

Article said: Khrushchev said that the sure destruction of America would happen from within and that they will take down the country without firing a shot. Stalin himself pointed out that violent revolution often preceded the establishment of a socialist order, which in turn, would become communism. Given these two notions, one is safe in concluding that any current revolution within America will not involve foreign powers, but will come about by a form of an internal, social breakdown. This, one may reason, is also by design.

Given those two notions I conclude neither of those things.

Let's try it with another historical figure who's wisdom has oft led people astray. Kid Rock said:

"Bawitdaba da bang a dang diggy diggy diggy said the boogy said up jump the boogy"

From that notion one is safe in concluding that any current revolution within America will not involve foreign powers, but will come about by a form of an internal, social breakdown. This, one may reason, is also by design.

Thats better.

Obama already claimed to be the best gun salesman ever. I don't see what folks are so worried about, but those who are seriously worried... Well, really think there will be a ban off sorts. Yep. They're just helping sales along. Everyone is back ordered.

still wanting a PMR-30. (Yes, I know it is a stupid gun to own.) Wasn't wanting to pay pre-hysteria prices. Certainly won't be paying for current prices. (Assuming one could even be found)

Sweet.....I need to order some LAR-8 magazines

Who would have thought RRA would make a rifle accept Metric FAL magazines and then design really nice polymer ones for theirs that work on a metric FAL.

I love doing business with that company as well.....I just hate AR's in general.

Thats the Kel-Tec isn't it.......good luck, their rifles/shotguns have been on and off backorder for more than a year. You either order them and wait forever, or you get lucky and snag one.

I like ARs ok but for my money I'd rather have an FAL. I like the .308 more and the FAL just feels more "solid".

Oh, I'd rather have the M1A personally, but between the cost of the rifle ($1200-1500) and the almost doublethe price of ammo, a .223/5.56 rifle just makes more sense. Then again, I prefer a 7.62x39 rifle over them all.

Yeah, that's their .22 magnum handgun. They are as scarce as hens' teeth....
scarcity = supply & demand issues = pricing that I won't pay.

I read a review in either SGN or American Rifleman on that PMR-30. While the concept is pretty cool, the one the author received to test jammed, and it wasn't terribly accurate either. I am perhaps a bit jaded on handgun accuracy (cough... Contender... cough) but those seemed not all that good. Maybe they just need to work the bugs out of them, maybe the one he received needed to be broken in, maybe I just don't want one.

Glad to see this Gun Control rant thread has turned to a true Gun Control thread, that is, using both hands.

Yeah, they were bad enough at first that production was halted.
I thought I'd read somewhere that the new barrel had improved the situation.

BTW, if I ever find one that I can afford, I promise not go all tacti-lame

He brings up some interesting points, but he is still essentially talking about a form of revolution, and as such is part of the rather minor and unfortunately vocal fringe.

My opinion is that this sort of talk (kind of as he mentions) only serves to hurt gun owners. The primary motivation for most of these laws is fear, you really don't need to fan that.

An example of this is in California. Not a huge deal. But just this year, California now has a law that makes it illegal to openly carry a long arm. Not really a law that is much needed (who really does this?). Why did they do it? Well, because in some of the Tea Party related demonstrations, some people thought a great way to show there support for gun rights was to (completely necessarily) carry rifles around, to make the point.

The result of course was that the thought of people walking around legally on the city streets with rifles (as silly as that is) created fear... and thus the (generally unnecessary) law.

Yes, and I'm already too cheap to buy the gun....add another $200, and it becomes MUCH more than I'm willing to pay. They are already north of $800, and that is too much to pay for a gun that (...as Dr. Hess notes) doesn't shoot that well.

I went from a Hesse FAL to a RRA AR.....I just didn't really care for the ergonomics, it felt cheap(they all feel like that), I didn't like the 5.56 rd at all, and personally.....as a carbine rifle, I would rather shoot my m1 carbine. The m1 carbine and fal are both much nicer and better designed rifles.

Yup that’s the headline over at gawker.com where scribe John Cook offers a 446-page list of every licensed gun owner in New York City. Cook also links to a database containing 300k New York pistol owners (out of 1.2m) which have been “freely available online for more than two years.” Reading between the lines, Cook isn’t proffering the information to lobby for The Big Apple’s Powers That Be to liberalize their concealed carry policies: “Here’s the full, searchable, NYPD list.
