A long time ago I found one of my neighbors had my missing cat they thought was a stray. Turned out they were feeding it hamburger, chicken, etc. No wonder the cat stayed there!

Yeah, the title didn't work quite how I expected.

Actually, yes it is... If a neglected Bob Costas wandered into my office, and just wanted to hang, I would be more than happy to just go with it...

But if the actual Bob Costas Bob Costas walked into my place of work, I would introduce him to the E36 M3-storm of berkeleyed-up psycho Bob Costas that is my watch-cat, Alex.

But back on-topic to the original post, yeah, he has adopted you. Looks like you got a good one!!!!

Plus- yes, keep him. Everybody needs a friend, even tough as nails outside cats.

My wife (ex-vet tech, current people doc), says the cat has an infection that you'll want to get looked at. Just FYI.

That's pretty awesome. If he decides to hang out permanently, maybe you should swing by the vet and get him some shots.

+1 for taking him to the vet, also to get him scanned for a chip. He might actually have run away from wherever his previous can openers moved and returned to his old digs.

Get him a proper check up at the vet, you don't know how long he's been on his own.

I have a very similar cat. 5-6 pounds full grown, really big tail for her body size. BEST rodent control cat I have ever had. Loves to be outside, really easy to take care of, no muss no fuss. I hope she keeps you.

That's her on the left.

As others have insinuated, the best ones find you. The other way around seems to be hit-n-miss.

Well, for better or worse, he's home.

A full belly goes a long way toward making for a happy cat.

He gets along with the dog just fine. A sniff or two and they declared a mutual cease fire.

The other two cats are NOT HAPPY!!! I was starting to feel like a referee at a WWF title match. I finally had to banish Jack and Gyro to the yard until the new one settles down. Tomorrow should be interesting. Doubly so since he needs a bath. I HATE bathing cats. I think I'd rather wash a blender...while it's running.

Anyone have a trick to introducing a new cat to a household that already has cats?

Still haven't decided on a name. The humor of Bob Costas was lost on my wife after I explained it to her. Might end up calling him BC.

Heard something about a sliding glass door cracked so they can smell eachother but not maul, over a few days. Try letting them back in while you're home to.referee, put new kitty in a room while gone with a kitty box. It is still their home, they just have to accept a newcomer and develop their own pecking order.

Please take him to the vet and have him tested for feline leukemia particularly since you have other cats in your home. Even though he's friendly you can't be sure of his history.

A few years ago a kitty showed up at our shop/office.(I run the shop) everyone at the company was really excited and thought it would be fun to have a 'shop cat' and thought WE should keep her. After I took her to the vet, had her fixed, tested, chipped and immunized and returned with a $400 bill everyone thought I was a good person.

The cat came home

So cats, the one thing I know better then cars.

When socializing a cat, lock the new guy in a room with his own litter box. Putt a blanket on both sides of the door. The cats will sleep in it or at least scent it, after about 48 hours swap the blanket and give it another 48 hours. The cats will get used to the scent of the new guy and will not flip out when they see him for the first time.

Washing a cat, its a two bucket method. One bucket full of warm but not hot water, add the soap and lather it up real good. The second bucket should have the same temp water but with no soap. Wash cat in the first one really well, if the temp is right they should not fight too much. Rose gloves are always a good idea the first time though and a crappy long sleeve shirt.

Then flush out the soap in the other bucket. Towel dry and let the cat air dry the rest of the day in a warm room.

A bonus picture of a my very defeated Persian show cat that had an unfortunate episode involving a tipped over trash can and shame. Short hair'd mutt kitties wash a whole bunch easier then long hair triple coat exotics.

I never had a problem washing a cat.

First, take a shower but leave the bathroom door open. Then, when the cat jumps into the shower with you, bathe it. Having large fluffy towels for drying it off afterwards is essential.

Tralfaz, a trip to the vet is in the works. Luckily my uncle is a vet so the bill will be $0.00.

Wearymicrobe, that cat looks pitiful. I bet he was pissed at you for days.

He is a double nation grand champion. He is pretty used to it by now. He prances around the house like he owns the place after a bath and tries to jump in peoples lap to get warm.

Well, that pretty much describes every cat that ever wandered through, well, pretty much anywhere!!!

How about a post-bath pic? Obviously with his trophies, he cleans-up well.

Back to the OP, looks like the new guy is adapting fairly well to his new home. Hopefully all checks out well at the vet, and the other cats grow to tolerate him. He looks like a keeper to me!!!
