I need to stain our very long wood privacy fence. Any recommendations on a good sprayer?

The version of this they were selling around '09 was garbage.  I bought it on sale for ~$17, and it was more cathartic to throw it in the trash, than drive back to the store and try to replace it.  May be better now, but based on my experience, I can not recommend.

It is definitely no better now. I got one about a year ago and promptly returned it.

I got this one instead and it works very well.

I used a wagner sprayer to paint our doors. It worked better than I thought it would.

Do any of these units spray polyurethane clear wood sealant? I have 6 panel wood doors and trim that I'm staining (by hand) and a sprayer would make applying the clear finish easier.

Same experience. Bought two of them, both failed near the end of the first cupful, and we ruined most of a can of paint trying to thin it. Skipped a bunch of steps and dropped $180 on a Spray Station Gemini, which worked in a slightly disappointing manner - a clear improvement.

Is there a Lidl near you?

I use a cheep primer gun I got from HF for staining my house. I think I paid $10 for it. Since I have a compressor it seemed like a good idea and it was. I still have to back brush things as the shakes are striated and you want to work the stain in to the gaps and even out the application but getting the paint/stain on the house that way cut the painting time by 80 percent or more.

I think it was this one. The price has gone up but if you already have a compressor it is the easy button.

If you need to be mobile and not attached to a cord, I used a bug sprayer to paint a trailer once. Just make sure it's thin enough to pass through.
