They're both pretty heavy. The one I submitted originally was my third stab. It's based on the biblical Book of Joshua and concerns the chosen people coming to the Holy Land, murdering all the natives and living happily ever after.

I thought this would be an interesting (read horrifying) way to look at the concept of "chosen people" and an interesting way to write a character I've always wanted to try - the anti-villain.

The other book was my second stab. It's about a fictional group of white supremacists in Southern Nevada getting run over by urban sprawl. It's written from the standpoint of a civil engineer who is doing the running over. I thought it would be an interesting way to examine the loss of tradition and the value of heritage, but from a morally uncomfortable vantage point.

My first stab is awful and nobody is allowed to see it.

Don't be impressed. It basically just means I was beating my head against the wall for 6 years and had enough time to write another novel while denting the bricks.
