It's Easter Sunday and 420 Day, both holidays that are rooted in stories that have been retold by worshippers so often, it can be hard to know where history stops and mythmaking begins.
I especially enjoy this aspect of 420 Day, not because I'm a huge pothead but because I love history, and it's been fun to watch the different narratives develop behind the choice of the numerical designation. I like This version, if only because it rings true that this observance pays homage to a group of high school stoners who liked to meet up to smoke dope and then go searching for a possibly mythical weed patch.
No matter which you celebrate, I wish you the joy of the day and all of its sugary blessings, whether Peeps or gummies.

A pairing so perfect, it makes both holidays religious observances.
Well... there is also the birthday of that fellow that went on a bit of a European tour about 80 years ago...

One creates fogginess and confusion while contemplating the meaning of the universe and the other...
...oh wait...
Not adhering to either of the religions mentioned, nor the, uh, regrettable fervor of which AC reminded us, this has always been kind of a weird one for me. Kind of like if the whole world went around telling each other, "Happy Tuesday!" and I wasn't in on the joke.
On the other hand, the kid has a new Lego set and lots of candy, and there will be copious amounts of ham. So it ain't the worst of the "why are we doing this again?" holidays to muddle through.

Ahh yes, 420...
That lovely time of year when a bunch of stoners have an "event" in a Vancouver park without a permit, trash the park and generally ruin everyone's nice time.

It's legal now, that means you need to act like adults about it. These clowns are no better than drunken louts in public parks.
Does this date combination give additional meaning to Carl Spackler's phrase, "stoned to the bejesus"?
Meh, just another Sunday to me.
