So, I just came from our annual journalism awards night. Won runner-up for one story, and first place for another. Prizes included some cash... and a full set of Bridgestone tires, yippee!! I'm thinking RE-01R, for track days on my MX-3.

Thanks guys... yeah, Ford needs to sponsor a prize and have Rowe hand-deliver it. One of my fricking colleagues actually told Ralph I had a massive crush on him – he laughed and said "you gotta love a woman who builds a dodge V8 in her kitchen". Glad to know I made an impression.
Sure, thanks for asking

Congrats! Well done!
Which piece won first place? I'm guessing the racing school one because you listed it first, and let's face it, it was more interesting than the bit (although it was VERY well-written) on the Nissan Leaf.
I found the info about cold weather accoutrements on the Leaf an interesting point. Being a resident of a temperate zone, I rarely consider such things. But the absence of a source of waste heat must complicate things for the designer of an automotive HVAC system.
Congrats Leslie. May you soon win a Pulitzer. Funny this should come up as I was wondering about a cabin heat source on a purely electric car this past weekend. No waste heat from exhaust or engine coolant. Only electric resistance heat and it's effect on battery life and range.
I haven't read your articles as yet but will this evening when I get home from work.
Nice,well written.
One point, you mention how now we can run without fossil fuels Not true, since most electricity is produced with fossil fuels.
