Happy Thanksgiving! This our favorite holiday at the Suddard house--the combination of project time and lots of food makes it the best. What's everyone working on today, feast-wise and/or project-wise?
Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm actually working - helping a client gear up for Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. My wife is working for most of the weekend so I volunteered for this.
Hopefully this should result in more project time over the year end.

Is it me or is there something comforting to have the thanksgiving day parade on the tv? I kind of watch it but also do other things. Some of my earliest memories of thanksgiving as a kid are the parade being on tv.
Oh it's not just you. I watch/listen every year. And although my dad has been gone nearly 15 years, I still honor his memory by occasionally yelling "where are the bands?!" and "play some Sousa!" at the TV.

Me too! We would go my father's friend's office, which was a few stories up with huge windows and eye level with the balloons. Great memories.
I stayed home today due to the flu and didn't want get anyone sick. I was heating up a slice of pizza when there was a knock on the door. A local had a big plate of turkey and fixings for me. Football and turkey, life is good.

Sheep went in a half hour ago. Everything's prepped. Hope I don't drink all the whiskey before the food is done.

5 weeks taking up fridge space, but it was worth it.
Don't let the bad lighting and abundance of sauce fool you though, deep fried pumpkin pie was worth the effort.
Spending thanksgiving with 17 people from all over USA in Fiji now. Snow in Los Angeles so we had to get away from the disgusting stuff
I'm at my sister's house in Columbia, SC. My folks flew out from Idaho as well. It's been a few years since we were all able to get together. It's nice to see everyone but the real reason was to visit these two:
These are my sister's pups. Candi, on the right, is 10. I've known her since she was 10 weeks old. She is the sweetest dog I've ever known. On the left is Daisy. She is 1.5 years old and is a mix of blond lab and golden retriever. She is super rambunctious and is all that is puppy. She is annoying her older sister who was sleeping peacefully (and snoring) on the floor. You can see the annoyance on Candi's face LOL
Family on both sides is out of town and we're dog-sitting for everyone, so we're being home bodies. Fried chicken, taters, cranberries and pumpkin pie are being assembled and Lord of the Rings is on the tube.
I've had the best Thanksgiving ever !! A new grandson !
Great seats, less-than-great home team.

How did the trash can turkey turn out?
We went to my Dad's yesterday. Ate good food, played games and fixed his sink that was leaking after a Walmart run.

AngryWife and AK2 were on sometime in the first half. AK1 and I were just out of frame. Ditka and Guido The Killer Pimp were not in front of us this year, so I guess our section wasn’t as interesting to the producers.

Had a great Turkey day. Topics of conversation ranged from Ireland to Food to FRS/BRZ, GT3’s and GT4’s, 3 generations of Miatas, V8s, EVs, various transmissions, and Bridgestone vs BFG. It was a good day indeed.

I always watched the parade and the March of the Wooden Soldiers every Thanksgiving. Now I get to work every year during the parade. We each have to work a holiday and since I handle special events in our office I come in Turkey day. I've found the preparation before, work during and after to be as interesting as the show itself. Macy's, the agencies, and the contractors involved do an incredible job setting up for the parade and returning the city to normal afterwards with a minimal impact to life around it. From securing the route, setting up barriers and bleachers, inflating balloons, moving street lights, all the way through to the army of street sweepers at the end every bit is choreographed to go as smoothly and quickly as possible.
