It would be a lot funnier if it was one of their lower priced brands.

Does seem like a nice gift and does seem like HF gets the joke that tool-truck tools must be gold plated for the prices they charge
I was going to make the joke that it's cheaper than Snap-on, before knowing that it's only $60. My Matco 3" stubby 3/8 ratchet was $90.
A gold plated HF ratchet. Im not trying to start a whole big thing but I've never heard a better analogy for modern society.
I really wish that a gold plated 10mm was available as well, that would be proper challenge trophy level stuff if paired together.

When you get sick of keeping fingerprints off it, seems like a perfect award for "Most Heroic Fix" at the Challenge...
Oh, I saw that the other day and assumed it was an April Fool's Day joke.
Also anyone who has or gets and Icon ratchet please update this thread with how well the mechanism works. The newer Pittsburgh ratchets have a sucky mechanism that slips into an otherwise non existant neutral position if I slightly bump the lever while using it.
I have the normal chrome Icon version of this and the ratcheting mechanism is really excellent, 90+ teeth and very smooth. It is now my go-to.
Two of my podcast co-hosts just got these this last week, but they haven't used them yet.

I agree on the 90 tooth icon. I have it in 1/2" and 3/8" and it's definitely nicer than the husky that it replaced.
That's good to hear. I plan on taking my pittsburgh stuff in and instead of doing a straight warranty swap I plan on upgrading them to Icon branded stuff. The middle of the road Quinn ratchets look like the pittsburgh just with different handles so I'm sure they'll have the same issues.
My Dad was a Mac dealer and he got a gold plated ratchet as a return once. It had been found in a snowbank, and maybe 30% of the plating was still intact. They were not cheap.

This is the best part of this entire thread.

What did you answer?
I told her "I love the irony". She said, "ok, good"
