FWIW, to quote your previous hangout, you didn't really "bring the tech". Usually one tends to cut the dead guy some slack. If you are going to disparage them, make a persuasive argument. Otherwise you're showing troll tendencies.

Thank you for your graciousness. Bad days happen.
I hope you have a much better day tomorrow.
Thanks. It turned out fair. We opened a show today and it was so comically bad from a tech perspective that we just ended up laughing at our own incompetence. I'm sure the audience didn't notice a thing, but we were tearing out our hair.

Sucked back in only because you called me out.
I told the story of how I came to my opinion of the man. "But that's anecdotal!" Yes, it is. Sometimes an oral history is all you get.
I did, just now, go looking for that interview segment. It was probably around 1995. YouTube may not even have existed then. I couldn't find it. So, believe me or don't. Really doesn't matter to me.
I'm not trolling. It's a discussion forum. Lots of people were saying positive things about the guy (which I equally assume are true; I'm really less than familiar with his work). I'm just pointing out he wasn't perfect, and he had a pretty offensive side. Some people don't like to have their sacred cows defamed with a little truth.
Diplomatically stated. I gave up on sacred cows long ago. Staying on the racial front, Lincoln and Gandhi said some pretty terrible stuff. Does that make them any less historically significant? No, it just means that they are human, with internal struggles and missteps like the rest of us.
I'm pretty sure I saw the same interview ddavidv saw and it was extremely offensive and divisive to me. I must say though, I've never walked a mile in the man's shoes. I'm not sure how I would be if our roles were reversed.
