I'm not going to muck up my CL with Hyundais, but if you guys find one before John finds a Prius, I'm game. The $5k car market is fierce down here, so deals might be scarce on the ground.

that car was awesome. Sure, the sunroof had a broken adjuster but still functioned and closed/sealed. It had the customer tune still on it that required premium fuel but damn that throttle response was good. IT was a great car. Quite possibly one of the funnest cars I've ever owned. And what it did to faster cars on an auto-x course was just downright hilarious. If I'd kept it instead of the truck, with STF dying, I'd have gone 8.5 wheels, 245's and an LSD and ran STX and it WOULD have been a one lap car.

dude.... it's a Kia, not a Hyundai. Get your Korean cars straight son!

Holy E36 M3.... I think that is my old car. If there is a gouge on the vin tag lower on the door frame it is. There are a few issues that I see on the trims and wheel that I had on mine that are in identical locations. The mileage would be correct as well. 19 months and 15k miles.

We have people in the Orlando area who could likely lay hands/eyes on that car for you if you want.
Given the long line/lanes and the blue roof, my guess would be that these pics were taken right at the auto auction and that it is the CarMax auction In Orlando. The seller/dealer likely listed the car right away.
Goggling up the sellers number also takes back to this old Nissan Versa ad also with pictures right from the auction lanes.
Buying back your old car would be the coolest thing ever. We could figure out how to get it to you. Somehow.

She's the one who forced the sale of the original car. She has seen how sad this makes me and is now trying to make it up. So she has again become awesome.

taking donations. MAybe a gofund me? lol I'd need a few specific photos to be sure of specific spots that were done by yours truly.

Probably still porkier than the civic too I bet. I think I've seen a few have these in the low 2600lbs. My Sedan with sunroof was 2760 with the only lightening a battery, wheels and a catback. pull the 30# back seats, install a couple of light corbeaus for another 20# loss, no sunroof is at least another 30# and we're in the 2600's with carpet, stereo etc.
berkeley, I need to get focused on hte truck and stop thinking about this.
Out of curiosity, couldn't you drop more weight by going to non-SX brakes, down to 15" wheels, and also potentially run 9s or 10s with a 225 or 245 setup on them? Lower CG, better gearing, less weight, win
In reply to ProDarwin :
For an autox'er, yes that would make sense. For a track car I think the 17's and larger brakes are the ticket. It's about a lb per corner on the brakes in weight savings as the SX and the LX.EX use the same caliper, just a different knuckle/rotor. the other problem with the 225/15 is the gearing. We ran that exact set up one weekend for a GLDIV autox. We were running out of second at around 52mph ground speed, an indicated 62. This was pre-tune which moved that 2nd gear limit to 67mph indicated, but with these long rods you don't want to spend a lot of time at 7400rpm.

I was wondering, too. Was the adjective in the wrong place- Have you not told us recently that she's awesome, or has she just recently become awesome?
