Might as well try something.

When I was a kid, phones weren't the ubergadget they are now. You needed a camera, and a compass, and a pocketknife. So many things seemed so nifty, whether they were fake spilled cereal, talking watches, a two-way radio shaped like a giant cell phone, or a CD player you could use underwater.

I have a few bucks in my pocket, and would like to buy something hella nifty.

What's about a hundred bucks or less, and seems to you to be the coolest thing since Takara Robot Watches?

I'll throw one in to start:

Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators are a collection of single purpose music sequencers that run $50-$90 across most models.

I bought one. Why? Because I thought it would be cool? Maybe I wanna be like Zoolander? I dunno.

It hasn't shipped yet (Kickstarter) but I'm going to try Mint with it.

You into camping?  Biolite Cookstove for smokeless cooking source....about $50.  Generate large amount of heat with just twigs.

I will admit to owning multiple Pocket Operators. Boop beep boop!

Kind of cool that combines primitive camping tools with something with a USB port to recharge the fans that helped generate the Heat

Omg like the vast majority of that stuff is borderline parody it’s so bad. Some of it is legitimately a joke I’m sure but “modern glass cereal bowl?” “Giant beanbag chair?” Hmm maybe I’m not the target audience but I can come up with a whole lot more lustworthy things.

Swiss Army Rambler. Same tiny footprint as the classic, but just a smidge thicker, and it adds a magnetic tipped Phillips head screwdriver.  Very nifty, and extremely useful to have around.

I have plenty enough self-control to not buy any of those things, but not enough to not scroll through them forever.

I'd get that if the blade had a lock. I'm not keen on small knives without locks.

I've everyday-carried almost identical keychain knives for over a decade and I can count on one hand the number of times the knife has been out when I didn't want it to be...which was always because I forgot to fold it back in.

I think the issue is more about locking it open, rather than closed. In fact, I can't think of any pocketknives that lock closed.

How many 150ml bottles of Vantablack would I need to paint a car? For reasons.

Right, some Victronox knives have a blade lock that keeps them from closing. I wish the smaller knives had that same feature.
