Help me fix a mistaken click.

Don't know how it happened, but last time I shut down the computer Internet Explorer pinned to the task bar with all my "favorites" disappeared.  OK, some of those favorites are rarely used and could have gone away, but is it possible to get all that stuff back?

Clearly I'm a compu-dinosaur.

Can you go to the start menu and right click on Internet Explorer and select pin to task bar?  Don't know if your favorites will ride along though.

If this is Windows10 then it may have done one of the large updates. They tend to knock the Internet Explorer off the start menu and taskbar, replacing it with Edge icons. Just click on the start menu and type Internet Explorer (just start typing, a search box will appear). When it finds it, right click and pin it to the start menu and the taskbar again. It shhould have all your favorites in it still.

Once you have explorer back on your taskbar, are you missing the toolbar at the top of the explorer browser window, the "favorites bar", that has all of your shortcuts? If so, click on view>toolbars and select favorites bar within the browser. If you don't see view at the top, try hitting the alt key.

Whew, all my junk is here, but it's in the bottom 20% of the screen and not easy to use.  In its current configuration there is no task bar at top, no "file-view-print" etc.  Suggestions for getting it back to something familiar?

It's not clear to me what you're talking about; can you do a Print Screen (there's probably a PrtScn button on your keyboard), and describe the parts of the image that should be different?

On a wild guess, do you find some of what you're after in a menu that comes down after you click on a little gear in the upper right?

That's sort of the problem, no little gear in the upper right.  I hit "prt sc", what's supposed to happen?

Oops, sorry; that'll copy whatever's on your screen to the clipboard. From there you can paste it into Paint (just open Paint and press ctrl-v, it'll size itself) and save it to post here...

Might have to do ctrl prtscr at the same time.

If you hit the Alt key you should see the File  View etc menu at the top of the browser window. From there, click View>Toolbars>Menu Bar, that will park it there permanently. To get your favorites toolbar back, do the same steps and click on Favorites Bar.

Thanks East Coast, it's still a bit wonky but functional.  Maybe it's time to trade up.

Ever since Windows8 that's been the only quick way to navigate the Start Menu, Win10 's menu is a little better but some things are still hard to find.
