I have quite a bit of two wheeled hardware in my shop. I live in an area that, at one time, had a lot of juvenile malfeasance. Things have been better that last 10-15 years but I don't want to take any more chances. I'd like to put an alarm on my shop. Ideally I'd like a few loud sirens, maybe some lighting, all rigged to a couple doors where the bikes are. I'm not seeing a lot of good DIY stuff online. I can probably build something with a board and a few relays or maybe use a car alarm? or is there something off the shelf that's fairly straightforward and reasonably priced?
In reply to Mr. Peabody :
You could wire something together pretty effectively using old school alarm contact switches. They're basically a magnetic reed switch. So wire the two doors in series then like you said to a relay with a siren and lights. Pretty sure I have a 12v siren I could send you nib. Lights could be 12v leds also.
Thanks. I'm looking at car alarms now because everything comes with remote. If I'm not home and it goes off in the middle of the night I can't see Mrs. P going out there to shut it off.
I'd happily buy something off the shelf but I'm not seeing anything simple except the cheaper car stuff. Everything's either internet or cell phone based. I just want to make a bunch of noise and maybe light the place up to scare the punks off
What about a kit from Ring. You dont need to pay the subscription if you do not want and can turn it off with your phone, actually can use multiple phones.

That's a great option. Thank you, I'll look into it
Do they make a "Welcome mat" with pressure sensors so when you step on it a camera and flash go off ? and maybe add a dog barking recording ?
We, with no internet access at the house (I don't use my phone as a hotspot, like so many do) went with simply safe, and are quite happy with it. Looks a lot like the ring, posted above, and prolly comparable pricing.
Reading about them, those were compared to the Ring system as excellent simple/budget alternatives.
Where I am in the sticks my internet is not reliable, and even though price is not an issue, when I need something my first thought is, how can I build it? It's just the way I am
