Really. I was thinking a 180hp and a 6-speed would be decent. The new Civic Si was so boring. I am probably going to try out the tC while she was testing new cars. I haven't tried the Corolla.

I'm not impressed with the Corolla, but I was extremely unimpressed with the TC. 3300 pounds-ish with driver. I think someone on here said it, but "Scion TC: When you want the looks of a sports car and the performance of a minivan".
I told that joke to my brother (a Toyota salesman) and he replied with "Please don't insult the Sienna like that"
EDIT: I say I'm not impressed with the Corolla, but I should qualify this. It is my girlfriends car and I have had a lot of time in it. The car is peppy, and it does everything it needs to do very well. I just don't like it; she loves it.
Speaking of which, it is entertaining to compare the 1/4-mile and 0-60 times of the Honda Odyssey with those of sporty compact cars like the Mazda 3 and Ford Focus. I never really thought of the Odyssey as a hot set of wheels.

From what i can tell, the new tC weighs a touch under 3100lbs. That's pretty light by today's standards for a car that size.
180hp, 6spd, between 3000 and 3100lbs... on paper, it seems pretty decent. But... i'm sure it suffers from "modern toyota" handling and steering feel. As in.... none. No steering feel.
Has anyone actually driven the 500? I really want to. The CR-Z, 500 and Mustang are probably the only cars I actually want to try that I could afford soon.
TC, fiat looks like a VW Beetle abortion....

I'm sure the 500's huge amount of peak power is somewhere around 2500, right? 
The Scion looks better but the Fiat is cuter. I like small dissplacement cars. I guess the Mini is old hat to most grmers but I still like it. The Fiat will catch my eye before the Scion on the street. I'm sure of that. I'd like to drive one.
As I read this the current gas price spike is on the news. I hope this country starts importing, or better yet building, "kei cars" like they have in Japan. We may need them soon.

Ollie liked his TC. It was a surprising durable chew toy, and free is always a plus.

I actually saw a truckload of 500s about 4 months ago. In person, the Fiat is a very pretty car. Very Italian. That being said, some folks just can't apprecaite the astetics of a proper little euro car.
the tC's power is adequate with a manual. With an auto, the car is just a lump. The steering feel is better than some other toyotas but still not communicative. Handling is pretty....meh. Its still an appliance, despite its looks its not sporty at all.
I imagine a 500 would be way more entertaining to drive.
