My cats always end up with human names... I just go with whatever name they respond to first.
Some of the more mundane names ended up attached to the best cats. Herman, Bob, Frank, and Bernie to name a few.
Current psychotic fuzz ball is Alex, and there's a stray hanging around on my deck that responds to "Billy".

Dammit.
Works great for "c'mere Dammit," "get off the couch, Dammit," etc.
All of my cats have been named that more than once

I second going with a human name. I just find it funny.
Basil Exposition made me think to suggest "Basil", pronounced in the British manner. Sure, it's a male name, but what a great name for a cat!

How about Inara? (geeky Firefly reference)
I think she looks more like a "Zoey".
I have always wanted to name a pet "WZZFRALITFQTA". When people see it in print, you say "it's pronounced Jim, just like it's spelled."
My dog is named Steve.
Our two cats are Turbo and Cowboy.
Turbo is my wifes cat. He can't go anywhere slowly. He is about 16 pounds and what I would call shy but VERY loving.
Cowboy is my cat. He is an shiny happy person. He has knocked wine glasses off teh wine rack while staring at me becuase I wan't petting him.
They both come when you call them. They both play fetch. They ALL sleep on the bed at night.
P.S. I have a buddy that had a cat. He named him Ace. Then, he got a girlfriend and she wanted to get another cat. They did. I suggested to name the new cat Gary. They did name the new cat Gary. My buddy didn't figure it out for about a month...

the volunteer here got named Natalia by the girlfriend. She said it sounded nicer than Nasty ass cat. She won't answer to it. She does answer to Rawr kitty or the sound of the food bag.
Name her Spike. Confuse everybody.
How about "Natural Born Killer" or "Obstinate Damned Cat"?
Are two cats, both black and male, Snowflake and Frankenstein........they have been relegated to the "small one" and the "big one"
Both of these have been shot down in the past.
1) Stop that
2) Put the claws away
Name it Fred. Think of all the rhymes. Honey, I fed Fred. Go put Fred to bed. Oh dear, Fred is dead.

One does not simply put a cat to bed. Your bedtime is their playtime.
So then it should be askr

In my house if I dont confine them separately (which means dog sleeps with youngest in her room with door closed) its berkeley with the dog 10 times bigger than you and make him clumsily chase you through the berkeleying house waking everyone up time

Apparently with this cat 5:30am is "I'm awake so you better be too" time.
