Apparently they got the bright idea to service vintage Porsches at their Porsche dealership in Atlanta.

That's the new Big Thing from Porsche Classic. And they define a "classic" as any Porsche built prior to 2006. Porsche has been making a big push to get many old parts back onto the shelves. They are also recruiting dealerships to devote a portion of their service business to bringing older cars back in-house for parts and repairs.

Probably a good business plan.  With the absurd money all the air cooled stuff is getting now, I'm surprised the VW dealers don't go after 21 window van service. "What's that?  I need to spend $9000 on brakes for my bus?  Well, one sold at B-J for half a million, go ahead."

The Nashville dealer is doing that now too.  They actually charge a lower labor rate for the older cars,  but ask for more time with them since many parts would need to be ordered etc.

Also,  I sold one of my 911s to them and it was an extremely painless experience,  so I can recommend that for someone looking for an easy sale.

This has been the business model with Mercedes all along. In the last decade or so they've started to drift from lifetime support and service, but I saw something similar recently where they will perform resto work.
