Mine is packed at home while I'm in DE for the holiday....it will go out Wednesday.

Where did that traveling sign originate? I had one, that I sent in the package my first year, but iirc recipient did not post pics.

I saw woody got it in 2015 from lancer007 in west Virginia, if you sent it to him the year before that would be awesome just to have it's whole history kept down.

Nah....i think 2015 was my first year participating. Can't be mine then.

Got back from the in-laws today and found a box on the porch!

There's stuff in it!

And quite a nice collection of stuff at that:

A minion ornament, a carpenter's pencil (or a crank seal installer as I call it), three hot wheels cars, a poncho, a carabiner clip, a flyin miata crank tool which I think I will pass on because it is AWESOME but I already have one.

a nice insulated tumbler, a pair of harbor freight gloves, a little blue foam soccer ball, a pelican parts technical CD- didn't try it yet....and Bourbon Balls. I don't know what these are except that they are balls and they definitely have bourbon in them. Damn!

Aaaand then we have the oem miata parts. 6 interior clips, a seat belt bolt cover and a hardtop defrost wire assembly. Accompanied by a staple gun and a 68 el Camino with the engine in the bed.

A Zippo, a leatherman type multitool, spray can gun (i love these things especially for plastidip), rockauto magnet and more stickers than I know what to do with.

And finally, a really nice bottle opener which will find a home in the garage.  I tend to bring a beer out there which is accompanied by 5 minutes looking for a means with which to open it...good solution!

I must have mumbled "hey this is cool too!" a dozen times while unpacking it all. Thanks!  A lot!

Ask and you shall receive!

I'm feeling pretty bad with this cold, so only took quick pictures and will get more later this week.

The highlights include some vintage Celica owners manuals, a Leatherman knockoff multi tool, a book of how to build your own garage, a bunch of magazines (really cool CARtoon magazines), and I'm waiting for tomorrow for the real best part. James, my wife wants to know if you stalked me for the part I'm omitting...

here are the preliminary pictures:

In reply to RedGT :

The part number for the hardtop defrost wire assembly is not correct.  It is actually the wire for an NA in the bag for the wire for an NB because I purchased a hardtop from an NA to install on an NB.

Hope you get some use out of the stuff in the box and feel free to regift whatever you don't need.  At least half the stuff in the box is regifted from either last years New Years Game or white elephant gift exchanges...

Edit:

The bourbon balls are basically Nilla Wafers, chocolate chips, powdered sugar, walnuts, and Jeremiah Weed. devil

Ugh, writing this up for the second time.  Firefox crashed right after I hit the post button the first time angry

So, the package from NC that arrived today.  It's a bit bigger than a flat rate box.  There was a note in the top from my secret santa- it turns out he did some "research" and found out I had a VW Rabbit project.

And it didn't have a lot of extra room in it either.

In fact I had to move it to the hood of the VW in order to unpack it.

The first load:

A NASA helmet visor sticker, a radar detector, a G-force indicator, a calculator, a Microsoft Specialist patch (which I sure ain't!), a stubby ratcheting driver, a tire pressure gauge, a laser cut metal white house model, three Hotwheels, and a something.  I really don't know what it is...

Next load:

A grow-yer-own Carolina Reaper plant, a movie quotes mug that may have been damaged in shipping, a cool (ha!) cooling fan attached to a heat sink, a "Commonwealth Constables Association" badge from PA, and a really cool gauge cluster.  Out of a VW?  I'm not sure, but I will see if it works.

Then finally:

An Eibach Springs banner, and a Corbeau seat mount that will fit in a- you guessed it- VW Rabbit!  Way cool.  In his note he mentioned he found a new home for his Rabbit, and this was what was left of his parts stash.

Thank you secret santa, I really, really appreciate it!

I've received most of a package from a VW fan in Utah. I'll post pictures in a little bit when I can use my laptop.

Honestly, not sure who drew my name at this point.

Yes, there were some loose bits, so I'm not sure if I got everything.

I just hope the post office doesn't want their crate back.

Cutting open the top revealed a treasure trove.

a good copy of Deadpool, which is awesome. An unfortunately scratched copy of I believe Led Zeppelins first album (track list seems familiar), A 2 barrel Carb that says TPI on it. No idea what it's from, but I'm guessing it's German. And I have no idea what those heavy rectangles are, other than useful.

Going deeper, we find a VW Cam shaft, some of the biggest exhaust hangars I've ever seen, a bag of fiberglass mat, and an older Harley patch.

Customary stickers and small parts, a fork?, a Chiltons on Small engine repair (up to 20HP, wonder if that's related to all the VW parts), some grey RTV and some matches.

So I know the thing with the key is a door lock. I assume the mini plastic air filter is a filter for the carb, i have NO idea what the rest of it is. Especially the dark gray piece with 3 blades on the bottom and threads on the top. It says VW, but my eyes can't read the part number.

So Secret Santa, thanks for everything. I'm not sure I'll be able to use all of it, but I should be able to learn a lot from most of it

Fork!  lol

Those rectangle-y bits look much like the lowering spacers I had on my 79 Midget.  Same with the U-bolts.

I would suspect otherwise you has some Beetle parts!  The only Beetle I owned was fuel injected though, so I'm no help on the carb.

I may or may not be a recovering ACVW addict in UT. Those are lowering (or lifting) blocks and u-bolts. the filling is an oil pressure dummy light switch IIRC ...or a brake light switch. GM TBI unit will fit any 4.3, 5.0 or 5.7 chev from the early 90's. It's mostly complete. The little filter is actually a keychain I got a box of some years back and I find them all over the house these days. The key and cylinder is the ignition lock cyl. from early 70's super beetle. The manual has lots of pretty useful stuff in it if you like to tinker with old mowers and tillers and such. The only thing that seems to be missing is a certain yellow pokemon that must have gone to live with a usps employee... Maybe I took all the "here comes a box of old junk" stuff too literally? It was my first time. Hope you find some of it useful or enterraining at least. Happy 2018

I'd say you were successful. This was only my second year and I was stretching for automotive related stuff.

That TBI may save my ass on a challenge car at some point, and the chilton will definitely come in handy. I'm already trying to come up with a project for that cam too.

Thanks again, everything is definitely appreciated, and I think you made a better pack this year as a first than I did last year for my first time when I just went through the garage and shoved stuff in a box.

My kid stole the matchbox car already, while she doesn't know this, it does fit with the thing and vanagon matchbox I bought her last year.

IMO you fit the theme just fine.  The aim is a box of misc. junk simply for the fun of it.  I started participating because when cleaning out my late father's garage I ended up with a ton of stuff that was too obscure or outdated to sell, but too cool to throw away.  So I've been giving it away instead, along with other stuff.

Some people go above and beyond but that's entirely up to them.  One year I got the expected 'random junk' which was fun!  One year I got, I think, two hubs and two hot wheels cars.  My daughter loved the cars and the hubs went on eBay and covered what i spent shipping my box.  This year I got some seriously nice stuff.  Next year I bet I get a used brake rotor and nothing else.  It's all in good fun.

Oh, and advance apologies to my victim. I was going to send a functioning atari, but I was apparently going to send the wrong power adapter. I went to test it, and it exploded a little. Post mortem revealed that while the atari wanted 9v, I plugged it into a 12v adapter. That does not work.

I've done that to an Atari before, it sucks. Last time I did it it blew the large capacitor in there and all I had to do to bring it back from the dead was desolder it and solder in a new one.
