As most of you know I lost my job in Louisiana and had to move to the DC metro area. Both of my cars needed some stuff done to them to get them to pass VA emissions and the taxes on cars up here is ridiculous. You add that to the fact that my job pays for my Metro fare, there was no need for two cars and the math didn't make sense to fix up the old ones. So time to trade. 2 for 1.
I contacted 7 dealerships, went to 4 and got treated with respect and received a heads up deal from 1.
Koons Ford of Falls Church, VA. (Yes, I laughed at the name too) I had no connections here and only went only with my knowledge (sold for 3 1/2 years) and a unique approach. "Here is the deal I can do. If you can't no hard feelings, let just not waste any of our time, I will just move on." Frankly I wanted to see if a straight up approach would work.
So let's get the berkeleyers out of the way.
Mercedes-Benz of Chantilly was quite possibly the closest thing to receiving assault and battery by a company ever. I wouldn't trust that unprofessional group of asshats to sell a bicycle. The worst experience ever.
Koons Used Car Outlet in Falls Church did almost as bad. They started arguing off the bat, never even got to the office. Cars on the lot were missing parts and not even detailed. Disgusting.
Rosenthal Fairfax Honda was an odd one. Definitely screwing people over, you just didn't feel bad about till your realized you were used. Salesman was nice but the structure is obnoxious. Prepare to have your trade stolen.
I contacted Koons Ford of Falls Church about a unit they had and the wife hated the color :rolls eyes: I told my sales guy, Azeez Yinusa, what my wife wanted, fully expecting to never be contacted again.
Two days later I get an email with two cars. Ok hurdle one over. I went in and got both vehicles appraised and still in the ball park. I had my own financing went I went in and guess what, they beat it by 2%. (For the record USAA has never been the cheapest on any rate I have ever put them up for. Professional, easy, but never the lowest rate.)
All in all a great deal. I have nothing to complain about all around. Good car and a straight up deal.
So if you are available to get to the DC metro area and a car is a Ford or used and at a Koons dealership. Give Azeez at Koons a shot. They actually did a good job with me.
