I was logging some flight hours in two of my drones and spotted something truly rare and unusual.
Uh, don't know how to embed videos, so here's a Linkey McStinkey

How to embed YouTube video...
When posting there is a series of icons at the top starting with B for bold and I for italics. Just left of the smile face is an icon that sort of looks like a tablet with a plus sign. That is for imbed. Click the icon and then paste in your YouTube link.
If it's a Facebook video then there is a blue F icon in the row of icons for that.
Drone would be a great scouting tool to get dialed in on that big buck.
I used to spend over 10X the time scouting from the ground vs actual time hunting. Yea, there's signs you only see from the ground but geezoi, hit the wood line at dusk to zero in on his location.

I don't know. I was wondering that myself.

I think you're right. There are things that you'll only see from the ground, and things that you'll only notice from the air.
As an aside, it's amazing how good image stabilization has gotten. You'd absolutely never know that was a drone if you didn't see it move.
I drive past a deer farm fairly often on the way to work. There are a number of albinos but not buck. That was cool how they watch the drone when in close.

It is. No matter how aggressively I fly any of my drones, the images stays flat and level. It's amazing; the technology that's packed into such a (relatively) affordable package.

And the crop in the field is probably a winter cover like alfalfa.
I started with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro. It was too loud. I couldn't get within 75' of the deer. I landed that and the video you see is with an Autel Evo. I love that drone!
I prefer it to the Phantom, but clients specify "Phantom 4 or better" wanting DJI drones because that's all they know. So I have the phantom as well.
it's like hiring a roofer but demanding he use a specific brand if hammer. It's just a tool, you're paying for the product.
I actually had a client specify "phantom 4 or better" and didn't hire me because I had an Inspire. He didn't know what that was. No idea it was a much better drone. That's ok, in the end I didn't want to put that much money in the air for a low-paying job anyway.
I'll need the metadata from that video so I can get the GPS coordinates.
Five NICE racks in that bunch. Where I hunt, you can see 50 doe and never see a rack.

Thank you for sharing that. We've had albino squirrels around enough so they don't cause a lot of excitement but a deer! Completely white? There is one around here where the nose etc is white or pink but the fur is the normal tan.

Maybe I'm a nerd, but I couldn't not share that. According to my friends google-foo, the odds of a deer being albino is 1/30,000. That means 1/60,000 for a make. Then, what are the odds it survives this long?!?

Sorry, that was private property.
being private property, I could get that close as long as I wasn't standing on, or taking off from, the private property.

When the rut starts, they won't all be so cozy with each other.

You're welcome. I might sound like a nerd, but I couldn't NOT share. According to my friend's google-foo, the odds of an albino deer is 1/30,000. So that makes it 1/60,000 for a buck. Now I don't know what the odds of an albino buck living this long are.

I know. I was joking. Michigan is too far to drive for a hunt anyway.
You'll need to log in to post.
