My friend's brother and nephew gave him some of their home made deer sausage once, I assume they used pork for the other filler meat and fat. Anyway, it was 1/3 meat, 1/3 mustard seed, and 1/3 garlic. We ate the whole ring which tasted ok, at first, but after it started digesting inside our gut, some chemical reaction began and it started to out gas mustard, but mostly garlic. Soon we were belching and farting gas which both smelled identical and exactly like E36 M3 and I thought that I was going to die! I eventually learned to like mustard again but I can't stand garlic to this day, 40 years later.

When I lived in Atlanta we would make a Saturday drive up around Dahlonega to drive the twisty roads up that way.  Afterwards we would stop in Ball Ground at Frankfurt Döner & Meats.  German sausages and smoke house.  They would have a grill going out front and have a brat or what ever they had made that day.  Worth the stop.
