Scenicruisers are cool. I wish one of them still had the twin engine 4-53 Detroit T drive setup so I could see how convaluted that mess was. I believe every single one of them was refitted with a single V8 though. I have weird friends off of GRM too, only reason I know about those.

If I make it out there they're on my list of places to go. I have a ton of pictures still to go through from our last trip but haven't had much free time since we got back. Hopefully this week I will get to posting some.

Scenicruiser drivelines would have made Rube Goldberg proud. Two engines connected by a fluid coupler, an electrically operated clutch, a three speed manual transmission and two speed auxiliary box all to get 300 horsepower and acceptable fuel mileage. They were plagued with problems from new and were all repowered as soon as the V8s were developed. Greyhound had a ton of money invested in their development and in lobbying states to allow 40 foot coaches as most of the country still had a 35 foot length limit.

I need to go Google some drawings and photos of that. When we're they built? The fifties?
