I was expecting the source to be The Onion, but it was just on ABC:
Yeah, that was in the local news here today in Minneapolis. The funny thing is how he would just walk out of the store with a full shopping cart...I thought those places usually have a person standing at the exit checking receipts.
I saw this on Yahoo. The whole thing seems fake to me as Procter & Gamble viral marketing which has us all talking about Tide and believing/agreeing that Tide is a highly desirable product.

Yea, that's the first thing my wife said too.

This isn't a fair representation of PG county. If it was story about someone having been murdered with Tide...

Sadly there is much truth in that.

was it only Juan guy?
(sorry, had to do it)
Seriously, I was talking about this with friends, cleaning supplies might not be covered by foodstamps/public assistance.. so exchanging stamps/assistance for blackmarket cleaners might be true
haha I heard about this on the radio this morning.
But it did get me thinking....I get that you often get what you pay for when you buy super cheap detergent, Ive done that.
But I would not be able to tell a difference between a wash with Tide, and say, Arm and Hammer detergent. And its a pretty sizable price difference, Tide is ALWAYS a few bucks more than everything else.
I get why these folks would steal it, its a berkeleying ripoff.
Hell, I make my own laundry detergent. It is superior to the store bought crap. Should I put bars on my windows?

You should post your recipe. I use Simple Green on garage clothes but never actually considered brewing a batch for general purpose.
It is simple and cheap. Shred about 1/2 bar of Fels Naphtha soap on a cheese grater. Put it in 2 gallons of water. Heat until it boils. Stir in 1/2- 1 cup of laundry soda annd the same amount of borax. Pour it in bottles before it cools and seperates. To use shake the bottle and pour 3/4 - 1 cup per load. It works very well and cost about 50 cents for 2 gallons.
Liquid hand soap is made with a bar of Ivory soap shredded and boiled in a gallon of water. The homemade dishwasher detergent leaves horrible spots. I will not share that recipe unless you want to pull a prank on someone.

Lotsford is no long the road it use to be. There are some very upscale 'hoods the end.
