A reporter and her cameraman were just shot live on tv. The video doesn't show them getting hit but that's crazy.

Yep it's the real deal. If you watch carefully you can see the shooter on the left for a few frames. He's wearing all black, light-ish skin, that's all you can see.
The woman on the left and the guy who was filming were killed.
Here's the best view you can get of the shooter. Looks like he's bald.
Edit: Higher-res pic. Easier to see in frame-by-frame playback, it's a Bruce Willis-looking guy.
The interviewee was not harmed? That is either really lucky or someone was just after the news crew.

She was hit once in the back, in surgery now.
I think it was either a hit/stalker or some total loon just out to kill at random. Someone looking to kill reporters specifically would have a really hard time figuring out where one is going to show up (especially to something boring like this), while you can easily find out where their offices are.
another image from the video. It's down in SW Va, Alison Parker 24 year old reporter, Adam Ward 27 year old camera man killed, Vicki Gardner, the local chamber of commerce director (being interviewed in surgery now). Some reports have references to how both were in relationships with other members of the station staff (Ward engaged to a producer who was going to be celebrating their last day today; Parker dating a night anchor).
I wonder if this is going to change what goes out "live". My brother brought up the point that kids were watching the morning tv while getting ready for school when this happened. We had warning about what we were about to see, I imagine it was pretty traumatic live.

In theory, they have a 7 second delay to make sure that the stations are able to mask obscene things- like swearing and nudity. How this would be not covered by that would be a big mystery.

I see your obscure reference and raise you an image!
FWIW, It looks like a security guard or police uniform in the 1st pic.
