Yeah, the old-school costumes are cool. I don't think we had any Star Wars costume this year, though. That's sad.
Best ever for me was actually out trick or treating with a friend and her daughter. Mom handed the kid some candy, Dad handed us some beers.

We got a higher number than ususal, but it was a nice clear cold night. One little kid handed me a card pimping Reverse Trick or Treating, ever heard of it?

A means to make us aware of the injustices to cocoa farmers around the world. Yes, I am more aware of the situation but not particularly motivated in either direction. So how long before PETA gets into the act, or a 6 year old hands you a Hillary for President pin?

143 kids at our place last night. Seems close to usual. Didn't have to break into the backup candy, so that came to the office today.
We haven't had a single kid ring the bell this Halloween, probably due to the sixteen inches inches of snow that we got the day before.
Of course, it may also have something to do with the moat that I installed this past summer...
We have been in a new house for less than 6 months. We are back off the main road down a private drive. We expected no kids.
We are in our 40's with no kids but two dogs. The wife dressed up the dogs as we have in the past.
We loaded up little bags of dog treats and visited the neighboring dog owners houses and brought treats for those other dogs. These new neighbors probably think we are crazy but since we hardly know any of them we at least know that they think we are fun and friendly. We also had some candy for the dog owners.
The guy next door owns a printing company, when he opened the door I said to my wife, "Look honey, the big one is dressed as a printer." He got a kick out of it.
The rest of the night we spent as we have in years past. We loaded up and headed cross town to the neighborhood of a few friends who live in "kid central." You know, the large, recent construction neighborhood, built in a former corn field with little personality but a ton of kids.
I had a few beers with buddies while the wife knew about every other kid since she has been an elementary teacher in the community for 14 years. Good to have a children's story as a costume for a teacher. Can you guess what they were?
Three trick-or-treaters total, in one group, late. Yeah, they made a haul.
our hood normally see scores of kids...this year, maybe half the total...not sure if its the fact that it was a monday or what, but Im happy to have an abundance of kit kats and sweedish fish in the house.
Best costume of the night was a homeade Chewbacca made from furry fabric from the sewing store and a Bandolier made of cardboard and tinfoil. Worst was the 17 yo kid down the street who works at the gas station down the street...he went around as an gas station clerk

We had about 100 or so, at least that is what my Brother said. My wife and I were out with our three walking the streets. This year we had one Boba Fett, a Soldier and a LadyBug.
We had over 160 before running out, right as the mix switched from the little ones to the teenagers. The "Lil Racer" was still my favorite, but we had quite a few Star Wars and some old school ones. Lots of zombies.

We had a six or seven year old Han Solo, accompanied by his mom who was dressed as Leia. Dad wasn't dressed up. We had maybe 30-40 kids total, which is about average for us. Including one group that were probably college students.
My son was a zombie, went around our neighborhood, he was bummed cus he missed his friends and had to go ToT with his old man. This was supposed to be his first year on his own. Went to my parents complex and let him roam on his own, the one or two he hit said they didn't get many kids at all so they loaded him up.
We never get any. We have a reeeellly long driveway and I guess the kids these days are too lazy to walk up it.

Not lazy, smart. If it takes 2 minutes to walk up a driveway and back, it isn't worth it when you can continue 1 minute to the next house.
we forgot, so I ran to the 7-11 and bought a bunch of candy bars.. we sat in the livingroom and waited - heard kids walk by but no one stopped at our house.. think all the cars in the yard scared them 
so today I get to eat candy bars 
We had candy, we always have candy and then we decided to leave to go grocery shopping, hope none of the 2 kids within a mile radius tried to stop by. We still have candy though. 
My girlfriend and I got take-out sushi and watched "Sex in the City".
No kiddies, no chocolate. 
This far out in the sticks, there is no ToT.
Next town over only 2 subdivisions where open for ToT, as the rest of the town is still under curfew and recovery from the flood. I ended up in one of the area with my wife as she visited friend and family. I sat in the car, played angry birds and listened to jimmy buffet. The only interesting costume I spotted was Kick Ass.
