Part of our 2015 getting healthy plan is drinking more water.
Right now the only company I see that delivers out here to BUFU is Hinkley Springs.
It's just me and my wife and under their budget plan, they have a minimum of three 5 gallon jugs every two weeks. I don't know if we are going to drink that much water in that amounts a time. The water is fine here for cooking, so we don't need it for that.
So my question is, how much water are you guys going through in just a couple weeks?
i don't know... i turn on the tap when i want some, then turn it off when i'm done..
90-120oz a normal day. More on days with sustained activity like several hour bike rides, hiking, etc.
I get my water from the tap.
My neighbor across the street goes through two 5 gallon containers every 2 weeks. It's just the two of them and a dog.
Why not buy a good filter system?
Does your water taste that bad ?
If it is good for cooking, should be good for drinking
In most cases, bottled water is a huge unnecessary expense.

I don't have the money for a filtration system right now. I could budget $20 a month though for home delivery. The wife is fed up with plastic bottles everywhere.
We bought a Waterwise distiller and distill a gallon a day. We bought a second one off craigslist for $120 and distill more water. Distilled water is pure.

I use a little more than a two gallons a week for coffee, cooking and drinking. Supposedly more water is better. Figure 15 gallons every 14 days for two people = 71 oz of water per day per person.
If you go by the minimum 8 ounce X eight glasses of water per day rule = 64oz per day.
You should be able to almost consume all 15 gallons in two weeks.

Thank you, that's what I needed to know.
What's the bad taste exactly? I've done filters real cheap before, on Detroit water, successfully.

Our water IS that bad. Long story we tried to get a filter system but we ended up going with the bottled water. It is just my wife, our dog and me and we go through 5 5 gallon bottles a month.

The wife and I just discussed that and it will probably happen.

We went through about 2-3 five-gallon jugs a week. We use it for cooking, coffee, plants, etc. I used to hate having to load them in the coupe and having to load them on the dispenser. Although the water was cheap, at .39 cents a gallon, logistics was a pain.
My wife has been talking about a Berkey filter system for about a year. We use it for everything and the filters last a long time too. In about 6 months, it's already paid for itself.
Good luck.
Honestly you should just use it for anything that doesn't involve boiling the water. We have started having to use bottled water for the coffee and tea makers so they don't get ruined by the hard water. We rent so a softener isn't in the cards. We were actually considering getting a home delivery after I noticed a friends Hinkley cooler setup.

We have a family of 5, the three kids don't drink a lot of water by itself. When I'm home I drink a few glasses a night. My wife cooks with it, but does not boil pasta with it.
We go through about 5 gallons a week in the winter, less than 10 in the summer.
We don't have it delivered, we pick it up because we drive by the place just about every time we leave the house.
So, family of 5 uses 5 gallons in the winter, less than 10 in the summer.
Try to drink a gallon or so a day.
Do you drink water at work?
I'd say I get most of my water from work now that I think about it. At least 70oz a day from there, maybe more. If my water tasted bad at home, I'd probably just get a bigger water bottle and bring water home with me every night. I'm cheap :)
Just a thought: the supermarkets around here have large (3? 5?) Gallon jugs like you see on water coolers everywhere. Buy a water cooler on CL, and swap them as needed?

You don't need a cooler. This is basically what I had when I was in Mexico: http://www.amazon.com/Drinking-Water-Bottled-Dispenser-Office/dp/B001OBRKXO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1420302106&sr=8-2&keywords=water+jug+pump

If it's no good for drinking on its own, it's no good for coffee or other beverages; they'll have the same taste. It might affect cooking too, but using bottled water for cooking may be a bit too much.

Be careful, many of those are basically just tap water. Our local supermarket sells "reverse osmosis filtered water" We had it tested, along with our own tap water and it was basically identical, and our tap water is NOT good quality.
I've been getting home delivery of drinking water for over 10 years now. We use between two and four 5-gallon bottles every two weeks. Having frequent thirsty guests will increase your consumption. We are lucky that our service does not require a minimum purchase. I find home delivery to be a better option than going through cases of bottles.
