FU Frigidaire for your E36 M3ty HE washer that clogs up the drain with just a berkeleying hint of lint. This is the 3rd or 4th time I have had to unclog the damn drain you placed in such a way to NEVER be serviced. shiny happy people.

FU you damn hilljackers that I wouldn't let fix a damn broken rubber band. Now, since I have to fix the washer, I have to fix the damn unsupported plastic hot water pipe you put in to be berkeleying cheap. You are shiny happy people too.

My washer has a lint screen where the water pours into the tub. I clean it after each load. This has been the case for every washer I've seen in the last 30+ years of paying attention to such things. The g/f's washer doesn't have one and I've always wondered how that would work... or in your case, apparently doesn't sometimes... Hers has never clogged, though...

When I am done, I'll post up pictures.

My appliance repair man friend won't touch this washer with a 25' pole unless it's on fire.

HE washers are so much garbage it's not even funny. My sis-in-law hates her $700 one so much she's ready to wheel it to the curb with a "free" sign.

My cheap-ass top-load old-school thing takes the grease out my rags and gently massages the wife's delicates in the same load.

Don't know enough to blame him or not. My washer dumped a lot of water in my garage the last time I used it. I've been using this as an excuse to take my clothes to my g/f's and wash them there while I'm building her house. My washer came with the house and I have no intention of fixing it. When I'm ready, I'll get a nice front-loader with a new dryer and install it in my basement.

Mark my words, you will rue the day you ever fell for the marketing BS and will hate that smelly, mold-growing, "lifestyle accessory" with every fiber of your being.

Maybe he is going to buy an old commerical laundromat washer???

Maybe... my mother's seems to work well enough. I just need something with a large enough capacity to handle a comforter. Plus, being installed in the basement, I want it raised up a bit (see "shiney garage floor" thread), which would make a top-loader difficult.

Either got a crappy one or it's operator error, we've been using a front loading Bosch for 4 years now and have loved the hell out of it the whole time. The top loaders don't even begin to compare.

Only if he doesn't read the manual and actually follow directions.

If you're growing mold in the washer you're not doing either of those things.

Not my washer, I already told y'all I have an old-school top-loader (think Appliance Direct guy extolling the virtues of the porcelain tub).

Every person I know that has a front-loader hates it though. Every brand, every price point, they all loathe them. I just happen to find it particularly hilarious!

I love our HE front load washer and dryer. They weren't cheap though. They're Maytag IIRC. I'll verify when I get home. No problems out of them so far...

My landlord sells and services my appliances. My fridge was 70 bucks. He services the wash and dryer I bought from him. A good local business. Even lets me park there track car on his lot for free.

My only complaint about my front loader was the mildew smell I constantly got if clothes were left in. After the last thread about them on here I learned to keep the door open when empty or if there are wet clothes waitng for the dryer. This has solved all my mildew issues. Thank you GRM

Ours is indestructible as well, plus we found a model that could hold almost 2x loads of a normal one.

Not cheap though, but we got it at the scratch and dent sale.

We lucked out and got ours from my mom as a house warming present. I know they were like $1k+ each though. THANKS MOM!!!

Yes, I do that all the time. I know my wife and daughter do it, but I think it's more of an "Oops, forgot to close the door" than a "Lets dry this thing out" kinda deal.

My wife and I bought a front loading Whirlpool about 4 years ago and it has worked fine for us. Per the instructions, once in a while I run the special "self clean" cycle with some bleach and mildew smell doesn't show up. We put an inexpensive lint screen on the discharge hose and change it periodically. We have not had a drain plug with lint yet.

So now you know at least one person who doesn't hate his front loader.

You know, all you have to do is leave the door open an inch when you're not using it, and all those problems go away.

Heh, yeah, sorry if I was a little unclear, I knew it wasn't yours. But really they should read their manual and follow the directions, leaving the door open after a wash cycle completely eliminates the mildew odor.

I kinda doubt that everyone you know with a front loader hates it. It's probably just the ones that hate theirs that complain about them all the time. The same people probably also never change the oil in their car and all their tires are at different pressures.

I learned my lesson on cheap appliances as well. Sometimes that extra few hundred bucks at the time of purchase will save you a ton down the road. I've had to replace every appliance in my house, minus the water heater and the stove, in the 2 years I've owned it. I just had to replace the entire A/C system too. I love owning my own home, but sometimes I friggin hate it.
