Alright my afternoon was a bit interesting. I was in the house while Tiff went outside to water some plants and two of our dogs went out with her. Our neighbor that lives behind me got on the fence and got the dogs barking at him. They are Anatolian Shepherds, they are guardian dogs they were doing their job.

Meanwhile I am inside and hear what sound like the crack of a 22. I go running out the back door to check on Tiff and the boys. I see through the fence (it is cyclone with plastic slats) the neighbor duck behind his truck when he sees me come out. Tiff runs through the house tells me what happened and so I yell at the guy asking what he was doing shooting a gun at my dogs. He then comes out of hiding gets all puffed up and says he didnt have a gun and that is was a fire cracker and he threw it at them to make them stop barking (just happened to have it right?). He starts getting all uppity and is climbing on the fence and crap. I tell him to get off my damn fence and that if.he tried that crap again I was calling the cops.

He also tried to say my dogs are always out all night longand all day long barking. My dogs are ALWAYS in before 10 at the latest. They are never outside all day or all night, and if they do start barking we are always out immediately telling them to stop and getting them in the house. They are never out when we aren't home.

Oh this guy has also set the fence on fire before and caught a field behind his house on fire before aswell. I talked to other neighbors and they have all had issues with him before also.

Document, document, document. That way when things go south you have your ducks in a row.

Part of the documentation should be with the cops also. And get the neighbors to join in on the documentation with the cops. If you're the only one calling the cops and/or documenting stuff it will look like a quarrel between 2 neighbors, if other neighbors are also calling the cops and/or documenting it will appear more like a problem with one neighbor.

I mean he literally climbed up onto the 6 foot fence and was hanging over it yelling at me.

Yeah we have talked to our other neighbor and she has had issues with him and so has the guy on the other side of his house. I will talk to them both again and see if they will document. I know they have both called the cops and fire department on the guy and have had similar confrontations with him. Oh and my grandparents had issues with him when they lived here.

I think you are on the right track. Any type of firearm being used like that needs to be addressed. I don't give a E36 M3 if its just a .22.

Sadly right now with no work and basically all our money going we don't have that option though we do plan on it as soon as possible.

I'm dealing with a neighbor who claims my dogs bark all the time too. Funny thing is I have been out of work since we moved in here so I'm home about 98% of the time. Apparently she's also complained about the two previous tenants here. She's called bylaw and they came out and found no problem, so now she's complaining to the condo board.

Anyway, to the op, best of luck.

Look at at from is point of view. Your dogs bark, he doesn't like it. You don't think that it happens that much, he does.

I have lots of neighbors with dogs. I think that those berkeleyers never stop barking, they think that they hardly ever bark. I call the cops on them and the dogs get kept inside for a week or so then they are out all day barking again again like nothing's happened. I'm tired of it, especially when I want to leave my windows open.

Would I shoot them? No.

Would I throw a firecracker at them? No.

Would I buy several of those insanely loud electronic dog whistles and position them all around my property (1/4 acre suburban home) to shut the berkeleyers up. Yes.

Don't confront the guy, if you step on his property you're wrong. Just call the cops, that's what they do.

I have a neighbor that launches his snow into my house, parks his trash cans in front of my house, not his and lets his car idle between the houses for 40 minutes at a rip. I don't think he's mean or anything, just not thinking.

We have to have a chat.

Good luck Rebel.

This may describe 99% of dog owners AND their dogless neighbors. I'm a dogless neighbor. It describes me. I like my neighbors and their effin dogs wouldn't justify me being a prick, so I'm not. On the other hand, a guard dog doing his job by barking at the world at 10:00 pm...

It's a "two sides of every coin" thing. Perhaps you could both make some concessions.

Police report ASAP. Check your laws. I have the right to protect my animals [and my wife] with lethal force. (not looking to argue with anyone, so don't expect me to respond to stupid E36 M3.)

Luckily all my neighbors love my German/Australian and her barking because people stay away from all of our houses.

Cost of fine ? $1200plus court costs..

Good grief. I don't want to live somewhere like that.

I used to have that same neighbour! Piled all his snow all up against the side of my house, so when it melted it went into the basement window. And all his renovation debris, instead of piling it up against his own place. When I moved all the renovation crap over to his place, where it hid all the nice flower boxes they'd put out, I think he realized that the side of my house wasn't just a random brick wall, that I wanted it kept nice too.

After I calmly shovelled all the snow back into his driveway, he got the point. I pleasantly told him that I was sorry, and cautioned him not to pile it four feet high up against his own place unless he wanted a wet basement too.

We're limited to 2 garbage bags, I didn't care if he put his trash in front of my place unless it didn't get picked up. Then I'd just move it back in front of his place to deal with. After that had happened a couple of times, he apologized. The ground in front of his place is on a slope due to a huge tree and didn't leave him much room for his own pickup. I said I didn't mind a bit if he put it on mine, as long as he dealt with it if they left any behind. I think folks like that don't really realize that they're inconveniencing others.

However... that fence-climbing nutter sounds scary. I'd definitely have that stuff documented and call the cops.

Very helpful when E36 M3 hits the fan! I have a folder on my computer thats full of documentation about things like this and other "disturbance files." My girl thought I was nuts until the cops got called by the neighbor one time and I had tons of files and even video evidence(including security cam footage from by my backdoor where you could actually see dude throw a dead trout over the fence! I am not one to press charges on anybody, but I definitely like to have proof that I am the wronged party.

This guy is a few cans shy of a six-pack. Next time cell phone camera pics/video of him climbing the fence and yelling might help. It's amazing how some people's behavior changes when they know they are being recorded.

This is very true. When I am the passenger in a car that is being tailgated, I will pull out my phone and start taking pictures of the tailgater. 99% of the time they back off.
