I've heard the horror stories of somoene selling somethignon FB. The item is in fine shape. The buyer recieves it and says it's defective. Facebook sides with the buyer and the seller is out the money that is refunded and the item. How do I sell a few thousand dollars worth of drones and not have that happen to me?
cash, in person.
But honestly you always have the risk of this type of scam. Heck, even the local grocery store occasionally has people come back in lying about how the food was rancid or some such (and yes I have bought rancid food so I know it actually does happen too).
It's a risk of doing business. On FB marketplace I'd just make sure that the buyer doesn't rub you the wrong way in conversation coming up to the sale. Trust your gut.
I didn't know facebook could take your money back. How does that work?

You offer the "ship to you" option, and accept Paypal/Venmo/etc. Easiest way to avoid it is as mentioned above, cash in person, local pickup only.
Side rant: I really wish there was a better site than FB marketplace for local for sale ads. Something ad-free, and searchable. If my name was craig, I'd call it something like "mylist". Sadly, that's just not an option in today's tech world.

For Facebook, when selling or buying, I only sell and buy local. When selling, cash, Venmo, or Paypal friends and family only, and it is an in-person transaction. If I can't inspect it when buying, I'm not buying it. If I can't see the person I'm selling it to, I'm not selling it. I'll also snoop their profile. Most people are not smart enough to lock it down very far. With that, I can see that it is a new profile and obviously fake, so I'm not gonna play ball with them.
I'd much rather go through eBay (even with all of its fees and problems) or a specialized forum specifically for that hobby.
Insert obligatory rant about how awful every part of Marketplace is. It is a shame that it has become the biggest audience to sell to.

I'm looking for a specific pair of hockey skates right now, as well as some golf clubs. I'm looking local only. I despise the fact that I can't toggle local on and off and still have categories to choose from. And even when I do local only, it STILL gives me shipped items.
Garbage software.
I would only meet at police stations for that quantity of money. I've never heard of anyone getting their money back with Venmo or cash app. Not saying it isn't possible, but I buy and sell alot thru FB marketplace, and have never had that issue. You're not going to get alot of younger buyers willing to do cash only.

Is that like the old Offer-Up?
