So- Last night I was told of a 100$ Ford Taurus that has some tie rod issues that I am going to be purchasing, if for nothing else, than to have a beater to keep the miles off my ms3/when I tear it apart again. This afternoon- I walked into a 50$ K04 turbo off of a vehicle of similar vintage to said ms3. I cannot see this ending well.
(fingers to forehead, squinting)... I see...I seee...Hoonage (is that the right word?) on the doorstep...
I think the game to play is, how long does a taurus transmission last. Unfortunately, the odds may not be stacked in your favor.
I bought a Taurus wagon for $77 off a lot (slasher sale) once - and they gave me a 90 day drivetrain warranty. Yep - they got to fix the AXOD. Took them two tries.
It was then a good car until the tie rods went. The wife wanted something different by then anyway.
Transmission shrapnel is bad.
