Shout out to Wally as he is the only GRM New Yorker I am aware of

I am chaperoning a school trip for the Victoria Day long weekend. Staying at the Edison near Times Square. Been here an hour, so far, so good. We have a packed itinerary, but I do have a little free time. Any car guy stuff I need to do? Not that Manhattan seems to be that car friendly.

I suggest you put the children on a scavenger hunt of "Where's Wally-do"

When I'm in the City, I totally forget about cars--unless it's the yellow ones that pick me up when I do that thing with my arm. Go eat, see stuff, walk around Central Park, etc. Oh, and say hi to Wally.

Like David said there isn't much though on the weekends you will usually see some cool stuff driving around like various super cars, old Land Rovers ect.

There are so many other things to see and do you won't miss not seeing cars. If you guys are going to be down by Battery Park to see the Statue of Liberty I am right there in the bus terminal in front of the Staten Island Ferry from 8a to 4p.

Check you PMs also.

Don't eat, drink, or buy anything in Times Square. Not just because it's the sole reason New York City gets a bad rap for being expensive, but because the best stuff in the city is a few blocks to the East and West.

Car stuff? Eh. Try not to get hit by one. The cool car stuff, oddly enough, happens in New Jersey. Edgewater (between the GW Bridge and the Lincoln Tunnel) has a Starbucks that never closes. It's 24/7. At night, they have cars and coffee meetups all the time. You'll see every kind of motorcycle there too. Cool stuff.

Oh, I do have a totally random car thing. When I'm in the City, I always stay on 32nd in Korea Town. Late at night, like well after midnight, there will often be a cool car parked in front of the Duane Reade on Broadway between 32nd and 33rd. Over the years I have seen a Boxster, Elise, RX-8, R8 and others--always in that same spot and always very late at night. Totally random occurrence or connected? No idea.

No PM has arrived Wally. I hope it isn't some secret code to all the cool stuff.

All the times I have been down there in the past few years I have noticed an abundance of new Triumph Bonnevilles.

Woo! Got a great deal on Ferrari wristwatches for the boys. The vendor assured me they were real

Everyone is super friendly so far. The coolest car I've seen is an E30 M3.

Don't be afraid to try a little "Street Meat". Those vendors working off carts have come a long way.

Had some incredible empanadas. Not quite street meat, but perhaps after tonight's show.

Just don't ask them if you can use the restroom.

See what that other picante sauce tastes like. You know, the one they rant about in the Pace commercials?

if you like the sauce, ditch the under-21s and head down to my favorite drinking establishment, The Brandy Library. (N Moore Street in TriBeCa. Take the 1 train to the Franklin St stop)

You will not be disappointed.
