I broke out a film camera this weekend

I did buy a Yashica 44lm at a flea market and it works, but have been leaning towards selling it since I did find a Yashica Mat 124 G. Like the size, but the 44lm has the knob instead of the crank and after messing a bit with a crank TLR, I think I prefer that. 

Still intrigued by a TLR. 

I finally loaded up my Olympus XA2. Maybe I’ll finish the roll this weekend. Figure the last time I used it, I was probably like 12.

Just got some scans. Eager to check them out during lunch. 

Spoiler alert: very happy with the scans. I’ll share some soon, but here’s a teaser.

I got back some Tri-X, too. I’m wondering if this roll didn’t go through a CT scanner when traveling to Pikes Peak.

And, seriously, you should go visit: Valiant Air Command down in Titusville. It’s a fairly chill museum: two hangars plus several planes parked out back. Not many ropes, either, so you can get close to everything. We got to go into a C-47. I’m ready to head back. 

Next time, I need to use a wide-angle lens, too.

What else was on the Tri-X roll? I might have missed it, but do you know who shot the film, or did you just acquire it somehow?

This thread has inspired me! I have random rolls of film in my house that never got developed. I am going to drop those off this week and see what comes of it!

I've seen a few advertised out and about, but always feel like they are a little out of my price range. 

Speaking of film... In the 70's and early 80's there was a service called "Film Transit" that ran from Memphis, and I guess, to other small towns, to Oxford, MS. They collected exposed rolls of film from different businesses and took it to a developer then back to the customers scattered around. I had a bicycle shop in Oxford and when I'd need a part in a pinch, I could call Memphis Cycles and they would put it on Film Transit. I would usually have it the next day.

I haven’t shared anything here from the Tri-X roll, and I know nothing about the images. I can’t even remember where or when I bought the camera. Last night, I started making a zine with those images, though. Hope to wrap it up tonight as Orlando Zine Fest takes place next month.

To be honest, I just buy what I need/want. I do maintain a shopping list so I remember what to pick up next time.

I’d go back. I want to say it was $22/adult. We spent two hours there and really only left because it got a bit warm in there as it was in the 80s that day. Plus we wanted to go see the manatees. 

Added bonus: Watched a launch from out back.

So, that roll of Tri-X from the ’60s?

I turned it into a 16-page zine. It’s now with the printer. The hope/plan is to have copies for next month’s Orlando Zine Fest. 

Sort of related to the old photos that I found, I still have a bag of undeveloped film from the pre-digital days. 

I guess this could as well be posted in the "favorite murals" thread.  First time with a scan by an antique scanner (Epson V300 Photo) of an 8x10 B&W print I made in the darkroom.

Edit:  Shot with a Bronica etrs on TMY.  Lens was the 75mm f/2.8, probably shot at f/11 and 1/125s.

Printed on Ilford Multigrade RC Deluxe paper.

Here was a random find up in Brooksville. Using a Minox 35 EL that used to work, but then died on me. I was trying to fix focus issues and had issues marking infinity,  I may look for a new model that might be more reliable as I love the size. I think you can see how its focusing further behing despite being at f8 or so and scale focused. I had incorrectly marked infinity after regreasing the focusing helicoid. 

On the Renault, I did not realize these were rear engined.

I absolutely love my Minox 35ML, but it is not tolerant of anything but gentle handling. The number of times it's stopped working mid-roll is depressing, but it's so handy and takes really nice photos that I keep going back to it (at least for casual use).

Dropped of a roll shot with the XA2 today and picked up some more film: another roll of Reformed Day Shots and, new for me, Reformed Night Shots.

Thanks.  I figured my near 20-year old scanner would be the weak link, and it is, but it did okay.

My darkroom access is via a workshop offered through our local art museum.  Similar opportunities may exist in your area.

True, we have some opportunities an hour away in Orlando. We have a photo school nearby in Daytona. It’s been fun shooting film again, so we’ll see if I get back into the darkroom.
