I was backing up my Corvair today with the drivers door open. Didn't realize that I was so close to the guy wire for the telephone pole in my yard. Looked over just in time to see the door get jerked forward. Now the front edge of the door is buckled. It almost ripped the lower hinge out of the door. This car was supposed to be an easy flip, now I'll never make money on it.

Just had to vent a little.

Look on the bright side, at least the telephone pole didn't fall on the car, or another car, or your house. It still sucks though. Good luck with the fix.

At least there wasn't a guy on the pole when you did it.

O.P., I did this backing a BRAND NEW Chrysler Imperial out of a wash bay in '63 at the dealership where I had a summer job washing cars. Of course, I was 16 at the time.

I had a dark blue sable (wife's car) and I was driving my 1994 explorer. My wife closed the drivers door to her car but did not latch it. She had done this more than a couple times in the past. She also would quite frequently just completely forgot to close the door at all. Anyway as I pulled in next to her car the door swung open and I caught it with the front bumper/mudder tire on the left side of the truck. It was dark and I had the radio on. I only noticed that we had a problem when the front of the explorer started to come of the ground.

I was mad at the world for about a week. At her for doing her usual not closing the door and me for not noticing it until I had REALLY crunched it. The good thing is my wife now always closes the doors to cars and I pay alot more attention to things when pulling in the driveway. I also installed motion sensor flood lights.

Ouch. I backed my wifes Mazda 5 into my GTP yesterday. Slowly, but enough to scar the paint on the rear bumper of the 5 and front of my GP. I almost vomitted...M GTP WAS mint... Complete lapse of brain activity. Early in the morning, had other things on my mind etc.
Sorry about your 'Vair, I now know how it feels.

I've backed into the garbage container after I put it at the end of the driveway, denting the trunk lid on my 750Li. Equipped with parking sensors. Twice. :(
