After seeing 3 people get free compressors through the years, it's finally my turn.
Today I took delivery of a FREE 30 gallon emglow k15.
1.5hp, 6.2cfm at 125psi, 115 volts.
It uses the k series pump, 2 cylinders, capable of 8cFM with a 2hp motor.
How did I get it for free? It has a slight oil leak on the top of the pump. I've already found an exploded diagram and gasket set for it, so shouldn't be a big problem. But it was enough of a problem to warrant a replacement from the sprinkler system it was attached to its entire life, so I had it intercepted on it's way to the dumpster.
I'll add my signature crappy cell phone pics when I can use my laptop later tonight, but it's a nice shade of blue that matches most everything else in my shop.

the oil leak part.
My bad these are thumbnails, but if you knew what a pain this was on my cellphone, you'd understand why I call it good enough.
The usable pic links will have a jpg, gif, bmp, png or other recognizable extension. Those look like shortcuts to thumbnails. Long click an image to view the photo in a separate tab and try grabbing the url from there. Then use the photo icon in the editor to paste the link

Thanks ECM! Yea, I didn't realize I copied the thumbnail links until I'd already chopped out all the extra html in another app because selecting text in the reply box still isn't a thing.
Congrats on the nice score.

So my buddy tends to think it's leaking from that front right bolt by the copper fittings. I feel it could just be the gasket. Too late and too cold to take it apart now, but should a warm day come around I'm going to tear into it.
Fired it up as it sits, it's quieter than any compressor I've ever been around. Aside from that leak, it needs a plug made and I need to get a connector for the output. Looks like 1/2" black pipe will thread right on, so I'll start with a stub of that into my dryer then into the airline.
I'm seriously thinking about using the leftover pex I have from the pressure tank on my well to plumb up the car port, but I really don't need to as my 50 foot hose that hangs from the ceiling can reach the entire working area. I just think it would be fancy to do the plumbing.
Although I do have a question for the hive, is there anything I can do OTHER than changing the pump or motor to increase the CFM any? By my estimates (and hours on google telling me it's only estimates) I should be around 8cfm at 90PSI. Better than what I had, and I've painted with lower, but if I could raise it somehow with fatter airline or better connectors, that would be great.
Are thosthose hairline cracks where the fitting threads into it?

That's just the paint, so far. I scraped some back with my thumbnail and the metal still looked good. I'll have a better idea though when I degrease it and really go over it. Looks like that's only a $50 part if it is cracked though, which surprised me when I saw a whole pump was almost $500.
