No really, I had a dream. Since my doctor put me on Lipitor, a cholesterol medicine (just as a precaution), it has given me strangely detailed dreams.

In last night's dream I ran into a old HS buddy at one of those fancy schmancy car shows in downtown. He had an old 50's Fords and when he opened the doors to leave I was looking around the car and was once again surprised at really how little space there was inside those monster sized cars. This one had the narrow driver passenger foot wells of so many of cars in that era and the back seat wasn't as wide as you'd expect but it had a lot of extra room in front of the back seat that you don't get nowadays. It also had doors that opened up to the whole side, one door opened regularly and one opened suicide style.

But when I looked again I realized there was a center almost desk chair type of arrangement with a track down the middle. And then I saw that this was a double ended car with a steering wheel and dash on both ends. With that chair he could swap ends in a heartbeat. So my instant thought was this would be great in a police chase! Yes there's a little boy/girl lurking inside all of us no matter our age.

We both got in & proceeded to putter around town looking for a 2nd car show and we parked the car, in impossible places due to this wonderful arrangement plus we went the wrong way down one way streets and got out of the jam instantly.

I'd ride facing the rear and scare people just like I did as a child riding backwards in a station wagon, except this time it was for real because suddenly they thought a car was coming at them. When I was a kid we just thought we were scaring people.

My friend had it so that whichever end was pulling was in gear and the other end was in neutral. With me as his codriver I would put my end in reverse and apply power to help through the corners or when we were drag racing and the whole time I was getting more skilled at this & envisioning how I was going to help him when it came time for our police chase.

I got so excited about this car that I began designing my own. It was going to have the power from both engines going to a centralized diff so we could couple the power of both engines and I was going to be able to control the power from both so I could add just what I needed when I needed it. I could just have one engine idling when I just needed a little or I could set the trailing engine to a constant rpm like a tractor so I could add whatever horsepower I deemed necessary. IT WAS GOING TO BE AWESOME! And then I woke up.

If I had slept longer I'd have worked out the engineering details to build that thing better than he'd done on his.

All this and I hadn't watched any police chase movies or done anything particularly car specific before bed.

My life is interesting even when it's not.

This car would need a gearbox with a separate reverse (often used in stunt cars, so they can do the same speed in reverse as forward), but good luck shifting into it while the car is moving...I'm thinking you might need a driveline clutch like on the rear of the Hoonicorn as well.

You'd also need some exotic steering to handle driving in either direction at high speed. I'm thinking the simplest setup would be a steering lock system that can activate on whichever end becomes the "rear" combined with very little to zero caster.

See GameboyRMH is getting into it too. I was getting there, but unfortunately the alarm rang.

I take Lipitor and never dream anymore. I used to have some pretty good ones.

I never had dreams until recently. Now I have them about everything coming unglued while I run around trying to stop it. It's like being awake but with the occasional wet blanket.

I tried lipitor about 10 years ago. It made me drop things. I stopped taking it. Figured high cholesterol was better than bad side effects.

Interesting dream though.

In reply to T.J.:

Depending on how bad your cholesterol gets you may want to check into alternatives. The Wife is allergic and to be switched to something else.

I only do the lipitor every other day, but you can definitely tell the days I take them because my dreams are so real and so much work I wake up tired.

Ginkgo Biloba will stimulate your dreams as well. I had to quit taking the Gingko once I started the Lipitor.

Are you sure that's a dream and not real life?

We had a few days of heavy rain so I had to pump out my basement because the house was built by idiots. I got about four hours of restless sleep last night and every time I fell asleep I dreamt that water was pouring through the ceiling in a different room.

My dream was I worked my shift for today. Then I woke up and realized I still have to go to work.
