My friend Nick (fellow car guy) is an insurance adjuster and is on his way to the NYC area. Apparently all hotels are full and finding any habitation is damn near impossible. Anyone in the vicinity care to put him up for a modest fee? I will vouch for his character and cleanliness. He's a good guy. Married, 34 yrs old, blah blah...

Anyone?

I wish I could help. I have family in Manhattan, but they don't have heat or running water right now.

Doesn't have to be in NYC, but somewhere within, say, 10-40 miles?

I'll ask a few people I know up in NYC. I haven't talked with some of these people in months or years, but I know they live up there.

Conquest - sent you a PM about what little I can offer. Has your friend checked AirBnB? https://www.airbnb.com/ Someone might have a little more room to share.

Tell him to go to Jersey City. Rooms are cheaper and it's one stop to WTC - you can go anywhere in the city from there.

There is currently no PATH service to WTC. They had a bit of water to clean up...

You can get to 33rd St from parts of JC, but it's going to be crowded.

I must have misunderstood the announcement. I saw the Holland Tunnel was re-opened and rail service to the Village from Hoboken - I assumed the whole loop was back up. I guess you could always take the ferry from Goldman if you really need a room and like to kill 45 minutes eating a bagel on the water in the AM.

I had to double-check, but service is definitely limited right now. After valiant efforts on Monday, I think all of my JC friends are working from home this week. The lines for the ferries are/were massive. Still, if Conquest's friend is driving around, JC might not be a bad idea, I just don't know what the room situation is like there. They had some serious flooding, and lots of people in Hoboken are without homes...

The insurance company can't get him an expedition truck? Lame

In reply to GameboyRMH:

If they did he could make some side money renting it out. While I was stuck at work a few of us shared my Cavalier. While it's not a bad little car I wouldn't want to live there.
