Took my Hyundai in to Carmax to have the pass side door handle replaced, drivers door window was in-op. Wanted an oil change while in there. They had problems, I had an Enterprise rental. They ordered in the replacement door handle, came in the wrong side. Ordered another, it came in black, my car is white. While they were working on it, the tech broke the drivers side handle. Gee, they already had that handle. But both were black, my car is white, so they had to repaint both. Tech notices the console latch was broken, so they replaced that. I had mentioned that the TPMS light was on, I just thought it needed some air. Nope, two sensors were bad, replaced. Enterprise only goes one week, so Carmax gave me a loaner. Went to pick it up a bit ago, all ready, even washed and vacuumed it. Total bill was 0.00. In house invoice was 1782.00. Even comped me the oil change. I cannot say enough good things about the service provided there. All the stories I read about "stealerships", absolutely not true at Carmax. Internal invoice was over 1700.00. Never bought an extended warranty before in my life, SO glad I did on this one. I really think anyone looking for a used car is insane to go anywhere else.

dang!

I had a great experience with their car sales (thought about selling GF's mustang, got quote. thought about it for 6 months, then said "ok" and got exactly what they offered 6-months ago) but never went there for service. Awesome!

Worked there for 10 years, service department was a huge negative for a long time. Happy to hear they got it together as of late.

I'm fascinated by the Doug Demuro strategy of owning incredibly unreliable cars with the CarMax warranty. They just seem so expensive.

They have an SL65 AMG in inventory right now. To own a ten year old 600hp Mercedes twin turbocharged V12 without worrying about ABC failures, motor mount failures, coil pack failures and top mechanism failures is appealing.

I think that it is a really good idea to buy from them for any scary expensive to maintain car. BMW, Merc, etc. No worries? Good to go. Service advisor, would you believe his name is Happy? Was telling me stories about BMW nightmares they had to deal with.

I check their national inventory periodically. I'm waiting for the right Porsche to show up.
