I need a cyber private investigator

Some of you know that my family has been receiving threats of violence for nearly 2 years.  They continue to escalate. 

We've tried the courts, law enforcement, etc. We know who the person is, but can not prove it adequately for the courts using legal means.  It's been a long, expensive, and tedious process that has led nowhere.  CSI ain't real life.  

The perpetrator is intelligent, very tech savvy, and relentless.  Way beyond any logical limits.

I need someone who can link emails from different addresses, text messages, phone calls, and website contacts to a single source perpetrator.  I can give the name and address of the perpetrator.

I also need someone who is able and willing to testify in court if necessary.  Great ideas are useless if you need to remain anonymous. 

Any of you who know some details about this matter- please keep the details out of this thread.  

I would appreciate any help or referrals possible.  It's time to put a stop to this.

I don't know who you were dealing with in Georgia and don't know what SC laws apply. I know it's a long shot but there are some federal laws that may apply. Particularly 18 USC 875.  Especially if there are threats of physical harm and not just harassment. You might try to contact the FBI  since he is Crossing state lines. Not much help. It's all I got right now but I'll keep you in mind.

Is the perp out of state from you?  Think I would contact the FBI - sounds like a job one of their Joint Terrorism Task Forces would take on.  If the local FBI branch won't act, ask to be referred to the regional headquarters.  Keep going up until you reach someone who will take the problem seriously.  This is terrorism.  Make sure the agent knows you and your family are afraid for their lives. If the idiot is also threatening your friends overseas, they need to complain to their national anti-terrorism force.  Make sure they report your belief that all of the terrorism comes from the same source.  If you don't have a way to record your telephone calls, get one.  Do not allow your email accounts to auto-archive.

Most any techy could check the header info from an email and tell you what the source IP was, but you need much more than that.  The FBI has the resources and ability to do what you are describing. 

It's way beyond harassment, and includes threats against a minor.

I suppose getting software on their computer to track them without their knowledge is shady... Following along, and also racking my brain on any other ideas. I'll also forward onto dad incase he has any ideas.

If you know who the perp is, but can't get law enforcement to take this up as a criminal matter, have you considered contacting an attorny and trying to get a court order that bars contact?  Personal protection order or whatever it is called in your state for example.  That might give you an avenue to go to court and apply consequences if the harassment doesn't stop.

That's what I was just thinking. I'd call the local FBI field office.

I've got a few ideas, but the part about acquiring the evidence legally is the tricky part. Law enforcement is almost definitely the safest way to go in the sense of covering your assets, but I understand the frustration with that route thus far.

Most firms in that area cater to businesses or politics, Orbis is the big name in that arena after the Steele dossier came out. A few do domestic type stuff. I really have no idea how to vet them though.

Search for "Business Investigations" around you. You'll need to see if they have that area of expertise though.

Barring that I can give you the number of a cyber security firm here in the Lehigh Valley. I met the owner a few times, hes a US Cyber Command veteran, and his company just landed a few DoD contracts. They might have some ideas or be able to point you in the right direction.

It's a tricky area due to the laws surrounding it. The FBI really is the safest option.

A restraining order has been in place for several months. Has not stopped. 

FBI has already been involved. Too small for them to care.

I need to prove first that the perp is in violation of the restraining order. That converts it from a misdemeanor to a felony. 

I don't understand why this is such a "small" matter.. the guy has crossed state and national borders to harass you. Who else is he after?

Have you tried contacting any local news stations that might run one of those 'helping the people (our viewers) fight back against a system that is failing them' segments?  Or what about contacting your congressional representatives to try to see if they can help get the ball rolling on some type of action from law enforcement?  Pretty weak suggestions, I know, but about all I've got beyond that is calling the A-Team...Or perhaps simply employing similar tactics.

Does he have any money? Sue him civilly for invasion of privacy, assault, intentional in fiction of emotional stress, etc...

if he knows so much about you does he also know your user names on forums like this ?

I assume you changed all your passwords,  wiped  your computer , put a new hard drive in and started from scratch,

and get a better router with security features......

if he somehow had a keylogger on your machine he will know way too much already. 

if its also on your phone maybe change carriers ,

Make a list of things he might have access to and change them , kill off Facebook etc

That's my main concern, the inadmissible in court piece.
