OK, my wife basically told me to use my bonus check to buy myself a watch, because that's what I REALLY want for Christmas. I've narrowed it down to a few. I need input from others to help me decide. Here's the candidates...

What do you do? ...i.e. where would you wear it? Is this a professional suit/tie accompanyment? ...more casual? etc.

  1. Take bonus check
  2. Go here http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=threadt&frm_id=32
  3. Find something used from the morass of watches available.

Since you like skeleton watches a used chronoswiss opus in a non precocious metal would be a heck of a buy and more then likely in your price range.

1 is the most legible while still showing function.
4 shows much more function but not at the compromise of legibility.
5 lacks legibility, more like a puzzle. I do wonder, "what time is #5 showing?"

That was my general consensus as well. I like 4.

All are cool, though personally, I think the novelty would wear off the first time I looked at my watch and couldn't see the hands for all the other E36 M3 going on. Keeping that in mind, I'd say #1 or #2.

I'm not a watch wearer myself, but I like #1

These are nice as well

and can be had sub 500$ all day long.

If you can live without the skeleton movement. Lum Tec makes some really cool stuff.

Oooh, daddy likes...

I work as a Service Advisor at a Ford dealership.

This is what I wear every day now...

I'm looking for something a bit nicer. Something I can wear when going somewhere nice. I have a hard-on for #5 up there. It's so unique and interesting. Price range is around the $200 or less area.

I think they are all a little too busy or trying to hard, like a Russian church.

My watch tastes run along the "What looks like an Omega Speedmaster but costs $100". I wear a 35yr old TAG Professional 200m I got at a pawn shop somewhere in the 90s. I imagine this is of no help in your selection.

Then scratch the chronoswiss opus, they do make some other really cool stuff in that range every now and then though.

I am a really big fan of vintage stuff. Occasionally you can find a good non alpha non 18k accutron in that range.

That's cool, but I REALLY like the mechanical skeleton watches. I want to see EVERYTHING that's happening. I can stare at my Armitron and just watch it work. Very cool...

They all look (especially #3) a bit fragile and maybe a bit frou-frou for a car guy to wear. Just sayin'

Two looks like a cheap knockoff of a Richard Mille.

Me too. Unlikely to find a Spaceview for that money, though, even a 'fake' (Frankenstein) version.
