I was watching the old Billy Crystal movie Running Scared this morning and occasionally I would spot some old 80's hulk and I couldn't help but start seeing the possibilities.
I mean by far the coolest car was a fast back Mustang driven by some bad guys. However for some reason I caught myself wanting the 80 or 81 Impala Crystal and Hines were driving through the movie.
I even see some old gas guzzler around town and start thinking about what it could be turned into. I have officially spent way to much time around you guys.

You think that's bad? Long story short- i'm in a play. Live theatre. I was backstage and nearly blew a whole E36 M3pile of cues because I was trying to figure out how to purchase Argos Lotus because I was busy surfing the site on my phone, from internet I had stolen from the neighbors. And I still look at every beater on the road and go "wow, that's neat". People think i'm EXCEPTIONALLY weird when I see a clean insert whatever from 1989 and earlier here and stop to check it out.
Used to be there, I just dream anymore, not dragging any new E36 M3 home.
Trying to finish up and sell a '81 Chevy PU.
Don't feel bad. I drive buy the local Porsche dealer and don't even glance at it. But I stop by LKQ on a regular basis and shell out the $2, just to see what they have on the lot that is interesting. A pile of old car in a field will just about cause a wreck.
Was just thinking a few days ago as I was passing the salvage/ wreck/ repairable yard on the way to work. I used to want to drag every orphan home to save/ rebuild it, did it forever. Something changed a few years ago, major turning point here. I work so much anymore I can't finish current projects and need to part them out.
I felt like I was letting go of a solid part of myself I had forever, not going back to the drag E36 M3 home phase any time soon. Can't help it, time w/ family is priceless, payday is good, might as well buy new or good used and tinker from there.
I still miss my old self tho.
While I don't share an affinity for malaise era barges that others do here, There are a lot more cars that I look at differently after the last decade on the GRM boards.

This is one of my favorite ways to spend a saturday. Go to the Pick N pull, throw the man two bucks, and sift through the cars.
