Several people have done that. Apparently it's not very difficult. It is an interesting solution to the "I don't love the transmission" problem.

Frenchy had a bad habit of E36 M3ting in the middle of every thread he took a passing interest in.
We don't need him telling everyone how a Tesla Model 2 is a better work truck than an F150 and Elon promised him they would be out in 6 months for $22k.
