I thought this was going to be a repost of that lame roll-cage equipped creeper. This thing though, totally useful and awesome. The worst thing about working under a car in the garage is the up and down, up and down from the creeper. Man! That's a good idea, even better than the hover creeper!

NICE! I would love one of those in my stocking on Tuesday.

Nice, only problem I can see is that those joysticks are the tallest thing on it when a person's lying in it, limiting how low you can go, and they could get caught on something and jack you up while under the car. They should replace them with buttons, all they do is activate the electric motor that does the "transforming."

That is sweeeeeeeeet! Probably would cost more than my last car, but it's a great idea.

Creeper? You mean one of these?

I was thinking of this kind of creeper:

Idea:

  1. Buy fold-flat lawn chair, castor wheels, electric gate actuator, motorcycle battery, plastic garden edging, 3-position switch.

  2. Attach wheels to corners of lawn chair, remove chair position lock mechanism, attach gate actuator between upper and lower portions of chair, wire 3-position switch to activate gate actuator and attach battery, attach plastic garden edging laterally at tops of chair edges but below chair fabric.

  3. Enjoy. Use switch to adjust position, when the chair folds flat your weight rests on the plastic strips and the chair fabric doesn't drag on the ground.

I wonder how long it actually takes to go up and down. All the video was sped up.

If it's too slow, I could see that being really tedious. Of course, if you spent the lift time thinking about how you weren't doing squats, maybe that would help.

Maybe switch to a pneumatic actuator instead of electric, that could give you some speed And you could recharge it with a shop air compressor, quicker than an electric charge.

Saw this on the History Channel the other day. IIRC, the inventors claimed a per unit retail of about $1,500. No cheap, but not "Only in Dubai" expensive either, and probably cheaper than a couple knee replacements. BTW - at "Normal speed" I'd say the up/down travel time was 3 to 4 seconds.

Do not want. I think this is great for the guys working in the shop with hip/knee/back issues. I'm not there yet........don't want the Rascal for cruising Goodguys just because it's easier, either.

I could see it if you have some sort of physical issue, sure, but otherwise lazy. Normally I'm twisted onto my side when under the car anyhow. How well will this thing work on a floor that's anything less than perfect? For the cost I bet you could just buy a hoist.

All I use my H-F creeper for is to roll around my crawl space and run wires/fix pipes.

Considering this country's trend to obesity, consider this the creeper of the future.

I've seen this on several forums, but everytime I get a picture in my head of the ship's captain in the Wall-e movie. I'd post an image, but I'm hot-linked impaired.

It would suck if the handle got stuck on something and triggered the lifting motor while under the vehicle though.

I agree. With back and knee problems, man is getting off a creeper in the winter hard to do. But for $1500, I'll buy an orphan to fetch my tools.

If I had money, I'd invest in that idea.

Don't know if I'd buy one, but I sure know I could sell them.
