the whole asking, resume, etc aside he does sound like an oddball. why do the kids make fun of him?
Glad the credit score thing was a joke. I agree there can be some correlation between charcter and credit score but at the same time Ive met really good people with really bad credit and vice versa.
I really think the guy might just be nervous, yes he should be making an effort to get to know the family and yes he should be expecting some questions but some people (myself included) just arent like that. In my relationships when its mattered Ive been pretty good at meeting parents but I do more or less what you're describing this guy does. Just sort of be quiet and go along with what is happening around you. I honestly think a warm invitation from the patriarch and a few nice cold beers are what it takes to get this worked out.
