Yep, even the front ends makes the fords look good.....You could be E36 M3faced drunk and still not want to ride that fat chick.

squared off wheelwells are a GM truck tradition that goes back a long, long ways.. 1973, to be exact..
Ok, I'm going to retract my previous statement of the new Chevy trucks being ugly. This morning, I saw two of them on my commute that changed my mind.
The first was a fully optioned out 3500 4x4 Duramax Dually with every factory accessory thrown at it. It was imposing and over-the-top ridiculous, but it looked nice.
The second was a basic white 2500 4-door, a "contractor's special" of sorts. It had the black grille and door handles, and looked great in the front, better than the $70K+ fully loaded example I saw earlier (aside from the non-projector housing headlights).
I think the key for good looks with these ones is NOT to get the 1500. The body seems too large for the light duty models, but looks great with the heavy duty models.
I dont hate the new Silverado's looks, but I dont love em either. I think a simpler is better approach would do the truck crowd well in general. Unfortunately, the truck crowd really would rather be driving a car, so feature creep is never going to not be a problem in this arena because the Mfr's want to make driving a truck comfier.
Regarding this truck, aside from the paint, wheels, and stance, there doesnt seem to be anything special. The same treatment creates brodozer douchetanks if you go the other way (agro instead of retro). A real throwback wouldve done more with the grille and such. Carry on, nothing special to see here.
Plus, nearly every single truck guy I am forced to share public thoroughfares with, drives like a serious dick, and apparently, owns the road, and intends on punishing my audacity for trespassing. They make BMW drivers look courteous.
Watched live online when the '14s were revealed. Holy mother of god GM, wtf have you done. It's... too... berkeleying... square. Well, it's over GM, shot yurself in the foot again. I'll keep my '12 Sierra SLE forever then.
Then saw a '14 Sierra in the showroom. Well huh, not that bad. Buddy at work bought a Silverado LTZ, not bad at all. Still not crazy about the squared off fender/ wheel opening but they kinda grew on me.
Took a shot at locating end of model year Sierra SLT double cabs but nothing much left to my liking, then I stumbled across this Silverado LTZ... and brought it home tonight.
Besides the regular truck stuff, heated/ cooled leather, pwr. lumbar, tilt/ tele, rear cam, Bose and more gizmos.
Giggled all the way home tonight w/ the heat on my old back. Me likey.

Awesome! Congrats! I hope maybe to get one one day, but that's a long way off. I really like the Z71 grille a lot more than the LT/LTZ grille. I don't think they look bad at all.

Curious, tested the clearance on the '14 1500 LTZ in my lumpy gravel driveway this afternoon, ton more clearance than the '12 Sierra 1500. Calling an oil change w/ filter in the yard or car port w/o jacks or stands good now and I ain't skinny, moar better w/ 2X6's or ramps but surely no 'real truck' killer. Last few new trucks I bought got serviced at the dealer while in warranty, free oil and inspection, what's not to like. FWIW, I won't even rotate tires on these anymore cause the dealer does it cheap enough, not worth my time.
So, what was your point anyway?

They've gotten tall enough you don't need a jack anymore, just a ladder.

that gets you into the bed or under the hood, and Ford was nice enough to engineer a step that swings out of the tailgate and a handle that sticks up to facilitate getting into the box...
try crawling under a new truck once.. my 97 Chevy that seems to sit an inch or so higher than stock is right at the limit of being able to get under it without a jack- i have to get right onto the ground without a creeper..
this all goes to how much ground clearance it has: what's the point of a truck if it's never gonna go offroad a little bit or of you have to worry about hitting the front air dam on curbs when you park it?
