http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/03/29/woman-slaps-wrong-child-spartanburg/2030549/

A South Carolina woman has been arrested for slapping someone else's child in a middle school.

Tshekka Collier, 36, was called to the school to pick up her son, who had gotten in trouble and was being suspended.

Officials say she walked into the principal's office and slapped a sick boy who was sitting on the couch waiting for his for mom to pick him up. Realizing she slapped the wrong child, she apologized, walked over and slapped her own child.

She now faces one charge of disturbing the school and two counts of assault and battery - one for each child.

in the old days the wrong kids parent would've said their kid probably did something wrong that week and might have gotten hit by them anyway - then they would thank them.

I think the arrest was warranted. Any lawsuits are not. I'm not a parent, but if I was, I'd be absolutely livid if this happened to my kid, no matter how hard it was.

Without getting into whether it is right or wrong to hit kids, I can tell you that it is absolutely not right to do it in a place such as a school office.

In reply to Datsun310Guy:

I was going to say the same, but went another direction as you can see.

Wow. If that was my sick kid I'd want the charges dropped, if I could spend 120 seconds in a closed room with said mom.
Even Steven.

As the father of three kids in school, let me be the first to say... Amen!

Kids are too soft these days. I guarantee my mom would have said "walk it off, you'll be fine."

I don't agree with hitting children, but I also don't agree with pressing legal charges...

I love that movie.

I agree kids are babied these days, if no one makes a fuss, kids forget it in a minute

I'm surprised at this. Some of you would really be OK with a random stranger striking your child on accident? Especially knowing the kid was in the office because he was sick, not because he had done something wrong (even then!)

I'll admit I don't have kids, but if someone did that to my nephews, they very well might regret it. The person doing the striking that is.

I honestly have to ask WTF, in regards to a stranger striking your child without reason.

I'll take a crack at the pronunciation of that name and go with "tuh-SHEE-kuh." Any other guesses?

still.. how does a mom hit the wrong kid? I remember when I was little, no matter how I tried to hide, my mom could find me without even looking.

The key word is "Accident" if it was deliberate it would be another thing entirely
