The recent thread about stuff going on in U.K. with LEOs and 2 wheelers...
I’m curious what line we crossed (so I can help avoid it in the future)
Seemed quite civil. Perhaps even interesting.
Usually when we cross the line, a thread gets locked. This time was different- it became a message that said “Staff only” for a brief time, then vanished.
I guess I’m admitting my ignorance. I know what a locked thread means, but I don’t know what that means.
Was it a different level of legal issues or something?
Just trying to learn to be a little better.
Thanks!
I have moved the thread until I have a chance to review it.
The original poster asking to lock it might be part of it.

I opened it. Clicked the link. Saw a screen capture of a helmeted rider on the hood of a car via dash-cam. Then some sort of ad popped up and I closed the browser while thinking, "this won't end well..." and went on to do something else.

Yeah, I was curious as well. I thought it stayed civil. Some opinions were expressed, and everyone agreed that the opinions that weren't mine were wrong
It was going to degenerate into a line of conversation similar to a gun control or health care thread. No real point to it.
I read some of it and could quickly smell the dumpster fire smoldering just waiting for some gasoline to be splashed on it.
I go to a 914 forum where nothing political is allowed. I foolishly asked if the talking head from Fox quit her job to date a Trump Bam! Ban Hammer threat! Whew, I didn't think it was all that bad.
ECM and the Mods here are surprisingly patient and tolerant but can smell a fire better than most. Best to just smile and nod.....

I went in with a dogmatic certainty of opinion on the topic. The comments made me nod in favor towards each side, enough to make me vacillate several times. Now I'm middle of the road, will think on it, and probably forget about it in a day or two.

This. I think.
Though “I think police brutality is funny and thought I’d share” may (should) be grounds for lock-down as well.
Yup. And now let’s move on. Our mods want to relax and enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend.

Only if it's drizzled in chocolate. If not, chocolate cream pie is best. Fruit pies are the devil.

Nuts don't belong anywhere near dessert! Not in cookies, brownies, ice cream, and certainly not pie.
Next you'll tell me that fruit is acceptable on pizza.

Pumpkin pie is the best, I didn't even realize that was a question.
In reply to STM317 :
I agree with your thoughts on the cookies, brownies and ice cream, but pecan pie is the best pie hands down.
Followed closely by blueberry and peach cobbler.

DUDE you just dropped so many pegs in my "is a real person with actual opinions" scale. That sentence you typed is made of words, but they don't make sense in that order. Nuts are the foundation of 62.5% of good deserts, and that is irrefutable science as shown by the number of significant digits in that percentage.

Strawberry rhubarb is the best or lemon meringue when strawberries/ ruhbarb aren't in season. I've been known to ride my motorcycle to VT from MA for some fresh strawberry rhubarb pie in the summer.

So, you are suggesting I can make this go away?
Let’s see...
Lock it down.

The worst pecan pie (found at Waffle House) is better than the “best” cake.

I don't even KNOW you people anymore.
Rhubarb is actual poison at worst. At best, it doesn't taste like anything at all unless you mix it with something. Since it is poison to start with, why would you do that?
Fruit pies are awesome. As long as they don't contain poison vegetables like rhubarb. Pumpkin is an honorary vegetable. People eat fruits like peaches and blueberries and cherries and apples in their natural state. NOBODY eats pumpkin that way.
Cake is good. Pie is better, but there is room for both in the world.
Ruhbarb is poisonous if you eat the leaves. It's great if you don't just want a sugar dump version of whatever fruit the pie is supposed to be. It's mostly just tart.
Ruhbarb pie is VERY hard to find on the west coast, especially straight ruhbarb. I suspect it's a bit easier to find in the mid-west.

This is the best pie. Notice the lack of fruit.
