IMAX may be a little overwhelming with this one. Nolan tends to shoot his action pretty tight, and I think you might miss something not being able to see the big picture. That's just me, though.

That's one of the things I really didn't like about the theater. I like quality sound, it's one of my hobbies, but the over-the-top production, coupled with the overdriven, and not very good sound systems really irritated me.
My wife and I saw on Saturday and we both thought it was one of the best movies we have seen for a while. As has already been said, the creativity needed to come up with that is awe inspiring. That is one movie I will watch again when it comes out on DVD.
Interesting take on the film and its larger context at this link. SPOILERS galore there, FYI.
I caught the part where the buildings all squeezed him in the 'ol anxiety/monster chase dream sequence that was supposedly when he was awake... That was the big tip-off for me the whole thing was Cobb's dream. Lotsa cool stuff in Alex's link above... I will need to re-watch it now because I missed a few give-aways the first time thru.
So I finally watched it. Brilliant movie, and I won't spoil it for anyone but alex's link is pretty close to an accurate description of what the movie is about. There is a side note to this, and as I watched the movie I remembered it.
One aspect of lucid dreams is sleep paralysis, something I suffered from badly through most of my childhood and into my adult life until a few years ago. (Furiously knocking on wood that I don't get another one.) Its a strange feeling, not a great feeling because you have this mortal fear that something bad is happening even though you really aren't in any danger.
I watched it on blu ray last night. At least the first 20 minutes or so. My wife and son loved it. I gave up and read a book. Didn't like it at all - should've tried to watch it longer, but I just couldn't.
Well, movies are a bit like music (or cars), people have different tastes and like different things, it is very hard (impossible?) to make a movie that everyone likes.
I thought it was a good combination of interesting story and a lot more action then I expected. I can totally see how someone could find it a bit confusing, but I think the movie still holds up pretty well if you don't "get" all of it.
Yep, whatever it is about that movie - I just don't get it. My wife claims that I cannot suspend disbelief when it comes to things like this. I disliked it from the opening scene. Just didn't want to devote the time to it. I won't disagree that it might be a brilliant movie, it's just not a movie for me I guess. I think if I were out of my mind on hallucinogenic drugs maybe I would've liked it. Don't know and I won't be finding out.
Probably one of my favorite movies of all time. Brilliant acting, story, cinematography, audio/soundtrack, special effects, character chemistry...Every time I watch it, I am moved. I watched it first in a huge theater with an amazing Digital HD projector, and a2k watt sound system. The next several were at home, and the experience, while still worthwhile was just not the same. My goal is to have completed by this fall, a media room - a 7.1 surround sound system including Polk and Memphis audio, and a real media center, not an Ikea table - just so I can watch this movie, the way it was meant to be watched, in my own home. Sure, it will enhance other movies as well. But I was never inspired to build this until I watched Inception at home with just the TV speakers to listen to.
Maybe I was expecting too much with all the hype. I wanted to like it. I wanted to not hate decrapprio. I was expecting to have my mind blown. Did not deliver for me. Had Spike Jonz produced/directed it, I think it could've been a home run.

That is one thing that can totally kill a movie for me.
One of my best movie experiences was going to see a movie I had absolutely NO information on.... that movie just happened to be:

Ditto. I don't watch much TV and try to avoid movie trailers, works pretty well for me. Loved Inception.
I thought it was good and I hate Dicaprio. At the same time, my mind wasn't really blown, it was like "well yea, OF COURSE that could be the final scenario they came up with to end the movie". I mean, what better way to end it. Either it was all real, or all fake.
ah man this just reminded me of going to the drive in all last summer, we watched Inception out there. I can't wait for it to reopen for the season
I like the CHUD article. Only problem is, I thought I remember'd reading an interview in WIRED where Nolan explicitly states that the children are wearing different clothes at the end of the movie.
As convincing as the rest of the article is, does that one point mean it wasn't a dream? This one little snippet seems to take down everything in the CHUD article.
Yep found it:
http://www.wired.com/magazine/2010/11/pl_inception_nolan/all/1
Wired: Any other clues that you’d like the DVD audience to pay attention to?
Nolan: The one thing I have heard a lot is the kids are wearing the same clothes at the end. And they’re not. [Laughs.]
Wired: They’re not?
Nolan: No, they’re not. I’m not giving anything away there. Also I’ve read a lot of misunderstanding or misremembering of the way those kids are portrayed onscreen. But on the Blu-ray, people will be able to check, say, the ages of the kids.
Wired: The kids are in different clothes and are older at the end?
Nolan: Yes, two sets of kids! The younger version of the boy is actually my son, and it’s not him who turns around at the end. There’s no ambiguity here.
Wired: I was so convinced that they were wearing the same clothes.
Nolan: They’re very similar but not the same. That I would very much like people to notice, because it was a very, very difficult thing to pull off, taking two sets of kids all around the world and filming things two different ways.
Wired: Wait—is it the second set of kids just at the very end? Or do you interchange them somewhere else?
Nolan: I don’t want to specify too much.

Like he says in the interview, the end of the movie is not to say "It's real or it's fake," the end of the movie is saying DiCaprio DOESN'T CARE if it's real or fake, because he is finally with his children again.

While that is really cool to know now, I haven't met anyone that has taken that away from the movie so Nolan might wanna make things a bit more clear. Might have to rewatch or check this out.

Go back and rewatch it.
You'll notice that when he spins the top, he walks away to go outside with his children.
He doesn't wait to see it if it stops spinning or not. So that does tie in with the "It's a movie about movies" theme.
