I shipped a bike via a company specializing in this; I paid for insurance. Let's call them E36 M3tyBikeShippers.com.

The bike was damaged. E36 M3tyBikeShippers.com has been a colossal berkeleying headache to deal with.

They're claiming that their underwriter sent my payout check to them "by mistake" and they want to Paypal me.

This smells like bullE36 M3 to me: E36 M3tyBikeShippers.com says I get $1,000, but in reality the underwriter paid out $1,500, but I don't see their check...

When insurance is paid, does it always go to the payee directly from the underwriter? Am I right to be suspicious?

What is in the contract?

LOL, you mean the contract I was never provided? (Long story...) I'm reading E36 M3tyBikeShippers.com's claims T&Cs page now, and it does say they may pay out electronically. IOW, NVM...

I'd let my insurance deal with that.
